Eligibility Criteria
  • Candidates who have passed (10+2) examination from a recognized Board.
  • Obtained 45% marks in aggregate of equivalent grade in the qualifying examination.
    (Total marks of best of five subjects excluding EVS including English should be taken into account to Calculate the percentage of marks)
  • Person belonging to S.C. & S.T. may be eligible to apply if they secured at least 40% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination.
  • Two years age relaxation is available to S.C. & S.T. candidates.

It is the only Law College in the entire District and its neighboring District of Malda. It is situated in the heart of the town of Balurghat, West Bengal.

It aims at producing law graduates with a high degree of competence to deal with the emerging challenges posed by ever changing national and international legal scenario. It also strives to spread legal literacy and legal aid to the poor and needy with a view to take justice to the doorsteps of common man.

The College has been provided with permanent affiliation by the University of Gour Banga and approved by the Bar Council of India. At present the College is imparting Bachelor of Law (Semester System) 5 Year integrated course.

The Balurghat Law College is under the university of Gourbanga, which is one of the reputed universities in Malda. The College has been established in the year 2001. The College has been approved by the Bar Council Of India and the Government of West Bengal. Presently the college is imparting 5 Years LL.B Course. The intake capacity of the college is 80 Students per section. The admission in this course is made strictly on the basis of merit and the merit is determined on the basis of marks obtained in the Higher Secondary or any other equivalent and recognized examination. The purpose of imparting Legal Education is not abstracted within the State of West Bengal but our College has attracted students from different States & regions like Bihar, Sikkim and we even possesses students from international neighboring countries like Bhutan and Bangladesh.
