It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines.
  
  The engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, and structural analysis. Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices and more.
• B.Tech - Civil Engineering
  
  Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering, and it was defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering. It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines including environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, municipal or urban engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, coastal engineering, surveying, and construction engineering. Civil engineering takes place on all levels: in the public sector from municipal through to national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies.

  Computer science or computing science (abbreviated CS) is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation. It also includes practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems. Computer scientists invent algorithmic processes that create, describe, and transform information and formulate suitable abstractions to design and model complex systems.

  Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply. It now covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications.

  Electronics engineering, also referred to as electronic engineering, is an engineering discipline where non-linear and active electrical components such as electron tubes, and semiconductor devices, especially transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, are utilized to design electronic circuits, devices and systems, typically also including passive electrical components and based on printed circuit boards. The term denotes a broad engineering field that covers important subfields such as analog electronics, digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power electronics. Electronics engineering deals with implementation of applications, principles and algorithms developed within many related fields, for example solid-state physics, radio engineering, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, systems engineering, computer engineering, instrumentation engineering, electric power control, robotics, and many others.

Students with / without CAT score is eligible to Apply. Preference will be given to candidates who have appeared for CAT conducted by Cochin University of Science and Technology.

Any Degree with minimum 50% marks. Students appearing for the final year degree courses may also apply. Candidate with work experience preferred. Admission will be based on the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Cochin University of Science and Technology / CMAT / MAT Score, GD and Interview.

Library

Well resourced library with national and international journals, periodicals and reference materials. Wi-Fi enabled reading room. The library operates on an open access system. We have a collection of 14000 books, 4 ejournals, 36 national and 39 international journals, 35 periodicals and CDs/ DVDs which are of immense help to the students and faculty members. Qualified and experienced library staff will be helping them to make use of these facilities.

Computer Labs

We have a full-fledged, state of art Internet enabled Computer Laboratories that has IBM x-Series & e-Series servers with 180 Core i3, Core2Duo & DualCore nodes. The centre has the latest software solutions that are widely applied in the digital area. It also provides a unique login ID and share space for all the members of the college. We have a full time high-speed Leased line Internet access and it is shared with Wifi connectivity. The college also has a Center for Excellence in Computing, that helps research in the emerging areas of Computer Science.

WiFi Campus

In recognition of the need and importance of Internet in the field of education, KVMCEIT provide the Wi-Fi facility to students and faculty to access Internet connectivity anywhere in and around the campus using their Laptops. This Wi-fi zone was activated on April 2009. Security and management is done at Internet Resource Centre.

Language Lab

Exposing to probable stress situations will definitely provide a better edge to the professionals to be in the college. The smart professionals of today are prepared for all the challenges of tomorrow. This department ensures that students, of any discipline, of the college will undergo `for the job training` prior to placements. And, there are weekly sessions held to tighten the command over English.

The sessions are made quite interactive to enable the smooth participation of the students through various English games, intellectual activities and by directing them to think big! Besides speaking, writing, listening and reading, the students are guided to analyse a company, to draft a befitting resume and are taken through the appropriate mannerisms, and expected behaviours of a professional. The efforts are to mould a better professional out of the student.

The trainings are not restricted to the students of the college alone. There are training packages available for the students and professionals outside as well.

KVM College of Engineering & Information Technology started in 2001 - 2002 academic year. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, affiliated to Kerala Technological University and is recognized by Cochin University of Science & Technology. Currently the college offers B.Tech - Mechanical, Civil, EEE, ECE and CSE (affiliated to Kerala Technological University), MCA, MBA and MSc Biotechnology programs recognized by Cochin University of Science & Technology.

The campus is located at Kokkothamangalam which is 4 km away from Cherthala and 8 km away from Cherthala Railway Station and 34 km from Kottayam. In order to reach the campus one should take deviation from Varanadu Junction (from Cherthala - Kottayam Road). The nearest airport is at Cochin (Nedumbassery) which is about 70 km away.
