The Faculty Centre at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur, Kolkata, for the Faculty of ‘Integrated Rural Development and Management (IRDM)’ is an ‘off-campus’ centre of the University, approved by UGC and MHRD. Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama (RKM), Narendrapur, Kolkata 700103 is a branch-centre of Ramakrishna Mission with headquarters at Belur Math, Howrah, West Bengal. This centre houses a huge educational complex in a sprawling campus of about 250 acres, with a string of institutions such as a residential college, a residential school, Blind Boys’ Academy, automobile training centre, commercial institute, two units meant for integrated rural development, namely, Lokasiksha Parishad and Agricultural Training Centre. There are huge agricultural farms and extension services covering nearly a thousand villages for integrated rural development. A large and well-maintained medicinal plant garden is a unique feature of the centre. The greenery and well-maintained gardens, ponds and water bodies, farms, play grounds etc together with the overall serene atmosphere give the campus an elevating ambience ideally suited for cultivation of knowledge—'the aim of any educational institution. The new Faculty is meant to provide quality education for a meaningful and self-supporting life to youths and train them to cater to the needs of economically poor and socially underprivileged sections of the society. One unique feature of the courses under this Faculty, which is a common feature of all the courses under the University, is to provide value based and higher goal-oriented education.
