Courses Offered

The Jyotirmoy School of Law (Self Financed) provides instructionsfor the following courses regular day courses extending between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

  • B.A., L.L.B - revised regulation five years integrated course
  • L.L.B 3 Years - non semester

The course for B.A., L.L.B; degree (Revised regulations shall be 5 years duration.The courses for the L.L.B degree shall be of 3 Years duration. The 3 Years Course shall be started later subject to the approval of University of Calcutta and the Bar Council of India.

Eligibility B.A. L.L.B.

  • Scholarships
    The students of Jyotirmoy School of Law, who appear and pass in all papers in the University Exams in the first attempt. Those, who fail in either in a paper or papers, would not be eligible for the Scholarship at any time in future.

  • Feesships
    • Students of Jyotirmoy School of Law who secure 1st, 2nd or 3rd rank in the examinations conducted by the University of Calcutta to which the college is affiliated are eligible for this freeship. In case, University follows semester system, the marks obtained in both the semesters in a year shall be taken into account, as normally determined by the University or by any rule adopted by the University to determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rank.

      The ranking should be among all the students of the University in the examination conducted at the end of the year / semester as the case may be 100% waiver of fees for the subsequent year, that is to say, the 1st, 2nd & 3rd rankers in the first year need not pay tuition fees for the 2nd year, 2nd year rankers need not pay for the 3rd year, and so on. If the fee is paid on account of delay in publishing the results by the University, the fee so paid shall be refunded.
    • Students who join the 1st year of 5 years B.A.LL.B: course in Jyotirmoy School of Law and who have secured 80% and above in H.S/CBSC/ISC exam in the year 2009 or in subsequent years as the case may be are eligible for this freeship and they need not pay the tuition fees for the entire year. Students who pass the relevant exams in the first attempt are only eligible for the freeship.

      The above scheme would be limited to the first 12 students in a year from among the students of JSL who are ranked according to the marks obtained in the aforesaid examinations.

  • Gold Medals
    Suitable endowments are being created for giving Gold medals to the University toppers in various subjects in Law being instituted by Jyotirmoy Education & Welfare Foundation and other philanthropists from among the students of Jyotirmoy School of Law.

Eligibility B.A. L.L.B.

  • Academic Scholarship
    The students of Jyotirmoy School of Law, who appears and pass in all papers in the University Exams from among the students of Jyotirmoy School of Law in the first attempt.

  • Merit Scholarship
    The Jyotirmoy Education & Welfare Foundation Freeship shall be provided to the student of each class of Jyotirmoy School of Law who secures the First Rank in the Calcutta University annual examinations.

  • Gold Medals
    Suitable endowment shall be created for giving Gold Medals to the university toppers in the subjects of Law from among the students of JSL. This will be started from Academic session 2010 on wards.

Jyotirmoy School of Law is an initiative of Jyotirmoy Education & Welfare Foundation which was established in the year 2008. Jyotirmoy School of Law aims to attract the best talents among the aspiring students who shall be admitted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University of Calcutta and the Bar Council of India.

Jyotirmoy School of Law has been established with a view to make an humble contribution to bridge the gap between the acquired skill and the required skill.

The legal education has its past glory but due to certain inevitable circumstances, it had lost its glamour and had the adverse effect on the legal profession as well.

The Bar Council of India had since taken certain concrete steps to revive its glory by setting up independent Law Universities all over the country.

The Jyotirmoy School of Law has embarked on a mission to develop a Model Law School, which could visualize the societal needs and carry its mission to make significant contribution in the realm of legal education and research.
