  • According to university Rule,Education & Physical Education can not be taken up by a student. Similarly, Arabic & Sanskrit and Philosophy & Geography can not be taken up simultaneously.

  • Total intake capacity of following subjects:

    Admission in first two subjects will be according to merit, considering marks in the subject in last qualifying examination. For Physical Education (General), preference will be given to students who have participated in District or State level sports meets.

  • Affiliation has been received for Geography General and the subject will be offered to BA General Students. Preference will be given to students who studied Geography in the Higher Secondary level.

Eligibility For Admission :

    • A candidate may be admitted to the first year of B.A. (Honours./General) degree courses on passing higher secondary (10 + 2) or equivalent examination with five recognized subjects of 100 marks each.

    • In case of other boards (not run by State Board/Council), one of the subjects passed shall be English, of full marks not being less than 100.

    • Candidates passing Higher Secondary examination from vocational stream conducted by West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other equivalent Board/Council are eligible for admission in General Courses provided that the candidate must have passed in 5 recognised subjects, of which one shall be English, in the previous qualifying examination.

  • Candidates shall be allowed for admission within three consecutive academic sessions including the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.

    • For taking up Honours course in a subject a candidate must have obtained :
      • A minimum of 45% marks in aggregate and 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.


      • 50% marks in or aggregate and 45% marks in the subject at the previous qualifying examination.


      • 55% marks in aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject or any related subject at the previous qualifying examination.

        (N.B. Aggregate means the sum of marks of best scored five (5) subjects excluding Environmental Education).

    • However, candidates belonging to the Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe community taking up Honours course shall enjoy 5% relaxation in marks in (i), (ii) & (iii) above, as the case may be.

    • Admission will be strictly on the basis of merit. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of the following criteria :

      • In case of Honours course : Aggregate plus the marks obtained in the subject or related subject in which he/she intends to take up Honours course.

      • In case of General course : Merit list will be prepared on the basis of aggregate.

    • For admission to Honours Courses, complete list of all applicants according to merit will be published and admission will be done through counseling in accordance with the intake capacity. The candidate must be present in person at the time of counseling.

    • For admission to General Course, list of applicants in order of merit will be published in accordance with the intake capacity.

Procedure of Application :

  • Admission forms are distributed normally within a week of declaration of results of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the W.B. Council of Higher Secondary Education.

  • Candidates have to apply in prescribed from for admission to Honours/General courses.

  • The admission form duly filled-in must accompany attested copies of mark sheets and certificates of previous examinations passed and others relevant documents.

  • Admission forms are to be submitted the college during office hours within the stipulated date.

  • For all courses 22% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste, 6% for Scheduled Tribe, and 3% for physically handicapped candidates.

  • One seat in each Honours and maximum two seats are reserved for general course under sports quota .

  • 10% of the seats in each of the subjects/courses shall be reserved for students passing examinations equivalent to the H. S. Examination of the W. B. Council of Higher Secondary Education.

  • 2% marks from the aggregate as secured by a candidate passing the qualifying examination in a year prior to the current year shall be deducted and the aggregate marks thus arrived will be taken up for consideration.

  • All the admission are provisional and liable to be rejected on reasons.

  • The candidate must be present in person at the time of admission.

Facilities extended to students:

  • »  Library :

    The college has a central library facility for the students. Through the library is not so large, it has a collection of most useful and recent books on different disciplines. The library is enriched every year with new publication. From library, students are allowed to borrow books for a specified period.

  • »  College Magazine :

    A college magazine is published annually to encourage flourishing the latent aesthetic talents among the students.

  • »  Students' Health Home & Health Card :

    The college has introduced Students' Health Home Scheme where each regular student of the college will be provided with a Health Card. This will enable him/her in getting best medical treatments and facilities, if needed.

  • »  Outdoor Games Facilities :

    There is a large playground inside the college campus. During their leisure time, the students may engage themselves in playing football, cricket, badminton etc. Interclass tournaments will be arranged every year.

  • »  Annual Sports :

    Annual Sports & Athletic Meet of the college is arranged where large number of students participate. The winning candidates are rewarded with prizes and certificates.

  • »  Annual Functions :

    The college organizes Annual Functions like Freshers' Welcome, Song, Recitation, Debate Competition, Quiz Contest etc. which are attended with huge enthusiasm from the students.

  • »  Seminars & Workshops :

    The college organizes subject-based seminars where eminent speakers from different corners of the state deliver lectures on relevant topics. The students get a chance to enrich themselves from such seminars.

  • »  College Educational Tours :

    The college organizes excursions of students particularly by History and some other departments. Provisions for excursion is extended at par with the syllabus.

  • »  College Canteen :

    The Lalgola College canteen started functioning since December 2012 providing good quality food to the students in cheap rate.

  • »  Students' common room :

    Students' common room for girls' has already been established and that for the boys is sceduled to be opened very soon.

  • »  Cycle Stand :

    A cycle stand for keeping cycle of students is available in the college campus.

  • »  Girls' Hostel :

    The contruction of college hostel for girls' with a capacity of 60 students is complete. The hostel will be open shortly as an when applications from sufficient students are received.

Lalgola is a Block under Lalbagh Sub Division of Murshidabad District, West Bengal. Considering the urge of Higher Education for all-round development of the society, some eminent educationists of the locality took initiative towards establishment of a degree college at Lalgola. Education-loving people from all spheres of the society supported wholeheartedly towards foundation of the College. As such, 'Lalgola College' was established on 26th August, 2005.

The College initially started functioning at the premises of M.N. Academy, Lalgola in the morning shift. From June 2008, the College was shifted to its own building erected inside a campus of 3.12 acres near Krishnapur Railway Station. The entire cost of land was donated by Md. Mustaque Hossain, Managing Director of G.D. Charitable Society, Aurangabad. The surroundings of the College is calm and quiet, pollution free, enriched with natural beauty. Lalgola College, though established very recently, is emerging fast as a notable centre of Higher Education in the district.
