Candidate possessing qualification of the University / Board of an institution outside the State / Country should produce a Certificate of Equivalence from the Registrar, Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, A.P., Vijayawada, India.

Duration of MBBS Course :
The total duration of MBBS Course is 4 ½ years plus one year internship. The 4 ½ years course is divided into 9 semesters. The duration of PG degree is 3 years. The Duration of PG Diploma is two years.

Teaching and Learning Methods :
The MBBS teaching consists of didactic lectures, seminars, group discussions and inter departmental lectures. Very good opportunities are provided for teacher student inter action. The ultimate goal is to train a physician who is capable of looking after the preventive, promotive, curative & rehabilitative aspects of medicine. The internal assessment carries 20% marks. The final assessment carries 80% Marks. The examinations and evaluation are conducted by NTR University of Health sciences. The Degrees awarded by NTR University of Health sciences are recognized throughout the world.

Non Clinical Departments :
The Medical College is having Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry Departments in the A Module. The Lecture Galleries, Demonstration rooms, Departmental libraries, and laboratories are as per MCI norms. All the lecture Galleries are air conditioned.

Para clinical Departments :
The Departments of Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine and Community Medicine are having all facilities for under graduate and Post graduate training.

Clinical Departments :
The Departments of General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, TB and chest Diseases, Psychiatry, Radio Diagnosis, and anesthesia are located in the teaching Hospital. These departments are having very good infrastructure for teaching and to tackle all Medical and Surgical Emergencies.

Urban Health Centre :
The College is running an Urban Health Centre in Ashoknagar, Eluru to impart field training to medical students. The Post Partum programme attached to the OB&Gy Department is also serving the needs of urban population.

The Rural Health centre :
located at Akiveedu is also imparting training to Medicos. Besides, it is also serving the health needs of 2.0 lakh population.

The Primary Health centres :
at Gundugolanu, Pedapadu and Pothunuru are also used for training purpose. These centres are very good for young medicos to understand the health problems of rural population.

Library :

A Modern air conditioned library is available. It has more than 14,000 books and about 50,000 numbers of journals. The College subscribes to 70 Indian Journals and 38 Foreign Journals. Besides the College is having access to 600 online journals. The library is having tie up with Dr NTR University of Health Sciences for online Digital Library services.

Auditorium :

The Medical College is having a very good air conditioned auditorium with a capacity of 1000.

Sports facilities :

The campus is having a number of Play Grounds. A tennis court, Basket ball court, Cricket stadium, Foot ball court are available in the campus. Indoor games and indoor gyms are also present. A modern swimming pool is also under construction.

Open air theatre :

It is located in a vast area. Educational and recreational films are regularly being screened.It has a capacity for 1000 audience.

Hostels :

The Male students and female students are having separate Hostels with attached kitchens and Dining Halls. There is a separate Air conditioned Hostel to accommodate NRI students. All the Hostels are having 24 hours water supply and Electricity. The food prepared in the kitchens is wholesome and tasty. A wide range of cuisine is available.

Cafeteria :

A modern 24 hours cafeteria is available in the campus near the Hospital building. A wide variety of snacks and refreshments are available in the canteen.

Generators :

The Campus is having generators with a total capacity of 1000 KVA to provide uninterrupted power supply to the entire campus.

Campus Security :

More than 200 cameras are installed in the campus and they are connected to central CCTVs to monitor all the areas of the Medical college and Hospital. A number of security personnel were employed to offer round the clock security in the campus.

Bio Medical Department :

The College is having a separate Bio Medical Department with qualified Engineers to repair all electronic equipment promptly.

Staff Quarters :

A number of staff quarters are available in the campus to accommodate the teaching and non teaching staff. All the staff nurses were provided accommodation in the campus and they have to necessarily stay in the campus.

ATM Counter :

The Punjab National Bank is operating an ATM Counter in the premises of the Hospital. Besides, there are facilities for postal and courier services and reservation facilities for train, air and bus travel.

Alluri Sitaramaraju Academy of Medical Sciences was named after the famous freedom fighter Alluri Sitaramaraju. The Medical College and the attached Teaching Hospital were established in 1999 as a non profit society. The College and Hospital are located in a vast area of about 100 acres. The campus is located adjacent to National Highway no.5. It is 3 kms from Eluru Railway station and 35 kms from Gannavaram(Vijayawada) airport.

The Medical College was started with an annual intake of 100 MBBS students. Necessary permissions from Medical Council of India, Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh were obtained. The College is affiliated to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. Post graduate courses in all Broad Specialties were started in 2007. All Medical and surgical super specialties were added. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has permitted for increase in annual intake of MBBS students to 150 from the Academic year 2009-10. Accordingly, now 150 MBBS students are admitted every year. The MCI has now given recognition for 150 MBBS Admissions per annum.
