ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

M.B.B.S. Selection

10+2 pass with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together for general category candidates and 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together for SC/ST Candidates.

Age: Lower age should be 17 years as on 31.12.15 & upper age limit should be maximum 25 years as on 31.12.15. The upper age limit may be relaxed by five year for SC/ST candidates.

M.D. / M.S. Selection

  • The candidate must be an Indian National.
  • A candidate, who holds M.B.B.S. degree from a recognised medical college of India or a foreign medical degree included in the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and who has obtained full registration either from the Medical Council of India or any of the State Medical Councils after completing compulsory rotating internship shall be eligible to take this examination.
  • A candidate who, after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS or the foreign medical degree recognized by MCI), is undergoing 12-month compulsory rotating internship/practical training and is likely to complete the same by 31st March, 2015 can take up this examination, but he/she shall not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship and obtained full registration on or before 31st March, 2015.
  • The cut off dates for the recognition of the Medical Colleges from where the candidates have passed their MBBS Degree Course and completed compulsory rotatory Internship for the 2015 will be 31st October, 2014. The Colleges recognised after this date will not be considered.
  • Registration with M.C.I./State Medical Council is necessary and its documentary proof should be furnished at the time of counselling.

Classroom:

There are four AC classrooms for 180 students each pursuing studies in MBBS. The classrooms are designed as per the international standard and the teaching here will be imparted with help of most sophisticated teaching aids including the LCD projectors.

Demo rooms:

Every department of KIMS is having its own demo rooms as per MCI requirement provided with adequate Audio-visual facilities, which gives better acquaintance of the teaching facilities for students.

Common Room:

KIMS has separate, well organized Boys, Girls common rooms with attached toilet and recreational facilities.

Labs:

A vital component of technical education is practical knowledge. New and updated equipments are regularly incorporated in labs with latest technology, which gives the students an added advantages.

Library & Study Centre:

KIMS, as a wing of KIIT University, will have access to a well stacked central library, reference section & online web journal facilities. Besides, KIMS own library housed in a five storied building over 24, 000 sq ft has stock of latest editions of medical, paramedical and general books by prominent authors and journals from Indian and international publishers aimed at keeping the students and the faculty abreast of the modern technology and progress made in the field of medical science.

Skill Lab - (Extra Co-curricular activity of students):

The Students Activity Centre of the college motivates the student community to participate in extra-curricular activities through frequent cultural, arts and literary events. The extra-curricular activities foster the all-round development of the students. The Students Activity Centre is located near the KIIT Stadium.

Computer Lab:

KIMS has well equipped computer Lab. High end data centre is an integration of a large number of high-end computing devices with their end-users through stable and faster data transfer throughput, with the ultimate objective of providing 24x7 services to KIIT users for accessing resources over LAN, WAN and internet. KIIT Data Centre houses an array of latest gadgets, including IBM Blade servers, Storage Area Network (SAN ) and CISCO core switch 6509 having gigabit data transfer capabilities.

Conference Hall & Auditorium:

KIMS has its own air conditioned Conference Hall/Auditorium Hall well equipped with light and sound system. KIMS will also have access to AC Auditorium of KIIT, which having a seating capacity of 1600.

Hostel & Mess:

KIMS has separate Boys, Girls hostels for UG students, PG students, Interns, Residents, Staff Nurses with round-the-clock wireless internet and intranet connectivity. All the hostels have attached canteens serving good quality Indian and Continental foods. Each hostel has 24-hour reading room and facility for indoor and outdoor games.

Recreation Facilities:

With one of the biggest in-campus indoor and outdoor stadiums, KIIT provides facility for all indoor and outdoor games.

  • Outdoor Stadium - A sprawling stadium has facility for Cricket (turf wicket), Hockey (astroturf), Kabaddi, Football, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Throwball, Basketball, Rugby, Handball, Netball and Track & Field (400 m).
  • Indoor Stadium - (Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium) - is the hub for indoor sports activities of the University. It is one of the biggest in -campus indoor stadiums of the country. Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton Billiards & Snooker (air conditioned) Chess, Carom Health Club 12 Station Mukigym, Yoga Centre & Swimming Pool

Health care Facilities for Students and Staff :

KIMS students and Staffs are provided with Medicare facilities at our Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital and they are covered under the Insurance provided by the KIMS.

Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) a constituent of KIIT University, offers a unique combination of experience and expertise. Located in an ultra-modern and eco-friendly campus, it has two wings – The Hospital and The Medical College (for MBBS & M.D. courses). ‘The Medical College’ offers MBBS course at the undergraduate level with an annual intake of 100 students as well as M.D. Course at postgraduate level. A high academic standard is maintained by an experienced and dedicated team of professors, clinicians and scientists, who are engaged in teaching research and developing technologies in health care. The courses are approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and the Medical Council of India (MCI). Admission to the M.B.B.S. and M.D. courses through KIIT Entrance Examination (KIITEE), an all India entrance test conducted by KIIT University.
