# A Student can take up Honours(Core) in these subjects even if they didn’t have the subjects in (10+2) exam, provided other conditions are satisfied.

** Sociology: Political Science / Psychology


For the purpose of determining eligibility, aggregate shall be calculated by adding the marks in Top-Four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate in H.S. (10+2) or in an equivalent examination. Marks in compulsory vironmental Education/Studies / Science shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. However Environmental Education/ Studies / Science if studied as an Elective subject of 100marks may be considered. Candidate should pass in English having full marks not being less than 100.


Generic Elective Subjects:

Students should choose two Generic Elective subjects from the following combinations, taking not more than one subject from one group:
(Each subject comprises 2 papers, 100 marks each.)

Students opting for Honours(Core) course in the subjects – Bengali,English, Sanskrit, Political Science, History, Education, Journalism & Mass Communication, Sociology should not choose simultaneously two science subjects as Generic Elective subjects.

A candidate shall not be allowed to take up any subject as Elective if she has failed in the subject in the previous qualifying examination


College authority will not be responsible, in any way, for wrong combinations chosen by the students.

  • For Honours in Humanities (B.A.Hons.)
  • Students cannot opt for two (2) science Generic elective subjects.
  • Science Subject: Economics; Botany; Psychology; Chemistry; Geography; Statistics; Film Studies; Mathematics, Physics, Microbiology
  • Mathematics is compulsory for Economics Honours
  • Physics and Mathematics is compulsory for Chemistry Honours.
  • Elective Subject Combinations not permitted are:
    a) Sanskrit with Botany.
    b) Philosophy with Botany
  • Elective subjects (Geography, Psychology, Journalism & Mass Communication, and Film Studies) will be offered subject to availability of seats. (Confirmation at time of counseling)
  • Maximum permissible seats:

For Honours Students, there will be no restriction of marks for Generic Elective subjects except the following:-

  • Original certificate of physical disability from competent authority
  • Original Migration Certificate in case of migrating students.
  • Attested photocopy of Admit Card of Madhyamik or Equivalent for age verification.
  • Attested photocopy (both side) of Mark-Sheet of Higher Secondary level (10+2).
  • Attested photocopy (both side) of Admit Card of Higher Secondary level (10+2).
  • Attested photocopy of SC / ST / OBC Certificate in case of SC / ST / OBC candidates.
  • Attested photocopy of certificate of physical disability.
  • Attested photocopy of Migration Certificate in case of migrating students.
  • One Stamp size Photograph (to be pasted in Application Form).

Candidates from Open School cannot take Admission in Honours Course.
Candidates from Boards other than WBCHSE, CBSE & ISC may contact college office after the publication of results.

All candidates of 2018, may apply for admission. Candidates of 2013 onwards may also apply for admission if they did not take admission anywhere or have cancelled their previous admission.
