News - IIT Kharagpur students will be allowed to run business from hostel rooms
A new scheme is being planned by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Kharagpur
which will allow students to use their hotel rooms as entrepreneurship offices, a top official said. On Saturday, at the institute's 63rd annual convocation, IIT - Kharagpur Director P.P. Chakrabarti said that the project would enable the students to set up the offices at a low expense.
Turning hostel rooms into entrepreneurship offices :
"We are coming up with a scheme where students can convert their hostel rooms into entrepreneurship offices at a much lower expense instead of taking rooms in STEP (Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park)," Director P.P. Chakrabarti said. To raise it global standing, Mr. Chakrabarti also said that IIT Kharagpur plans to have at least 10% of faculty from foreign universities in five years' time.
