On Wednesday, the law ministry cleared an ordinance of the Tamil Nadu government which seeks to exempt medical students from appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The draft ordinance was cleared by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in consultation with Attorney General K K Venugopal.
Moreover, the court has asked Tamil Nadu to comply SCs order which quashed state's notification of 85% quota to state board and 15% quota for CBSE and other boards in medical admission.
A medical aspirant who is protesting against the proposed ordinance by the Tamil Nadu government to exempt the state from NEET said "We have worked really hard to get a good score in NEET and now saying we are not taking it is like playing with my future."
The National eligibility cum entrance test (NEET) is the entrance for medical aspirants to acquire a seat in government and medical college. It is promises to ensure a single entrance format for the medical students across different syllabuses in the country.
