News - Delhi Government schools to come under CCTV surveillance
In order to ensure safety of school going children, the Delhi Government schools will have CCTV cameras installed in their premises. According to report, the CCTV cameras will be installed in about 1,029 schools across the national capital.
The government has ordered all private unaided recognised schools in the national capital to install "sufficient"
CCTV cameras in their premises with recording facility of minimum 15 days. "We will install CCTV cameras in each of the classrooms in all of our schools to ensure safety and security of our students," a top official from the directorate of education said HT.
CCTV installation at govt. schools :
As of now, all government schools have CCTV cameras only at the main gate and few other places.
Besides, a review will soon be done to look at the functioning of the existing CCTVs.
Here's what a senior official said :
"There could be some CCTVs that may not be working due to technical and repair issues," the source told.
"The education minister has already given directions to concerned departments to work on the specifications of the CCTV cameras that will be required. Once that is finalised, we will move ahead with the plan," the source told in a recent HT report.
