Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) - Bhubaneswar (Odisha) has released an official notification inviting all the interested, eligible candidates for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme offered in various disciplines for the academic session 2017.
Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India engaged in advanced research invites applications from Indian nationals for the Ph.D. programme in the following areas,
- Molecular aspects of grain filling in rice
- Microbial genomics, gene function and regulation
- Leukemia and leukemic stem cells
- Nanomedicinal approach against cancer stem cells
- Targeting DNA polymerase against candida infection
- T cell plasticity and Immune response
- Genetics and molecular analysis of inherited disorders
- Studies to regulate chikungunya virus infection
- Structural biology - protein crystallography
- Development of vertebrate hematopoietic system
- The tumor microenvironment in prostate and pancreatic cancer
- Vascular immunology: inflammation and cancer
- Understanding and targeting cell division in bacteria
- Immuno-genomics of dendritic cells in cancer & inflammation
- Role of autophagy in infection, inflammation, and cancer
- Virus-host interaction and disease pathogenesis
- Plasmodium biology, malaria transmission and disease virulence
- Chromatin remodelers and epigenetic factors in human hematopoiesis
- Clinical proteomics & metabolomics
- Candidates should have passed their M.Sc. (any branch of science)/M. Tech/M. Pharm/M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification with minimum 60% marks (or equivalent grade point). Candidates awaiting final results may also apply, however, if shortlisted, they have to produce their final mark sheet on the date of the interview, failing which they will not be interviewed.
- Candidates should have qualified in CSIR/UGC-JRF or CSIR/UGC-lectureship or UGC-RGNF or ICMR- JRF or DBT-JRF or DST-INSPIRE or GATE (30% or above), GPAT (30% or above) or ICAR-NET. They should have qualified in any one of these examinations conducted not earlier than Dec, 2015. If the original certificate is not available, the candidate has to provide a photocopy of the original admit card and the particular result page highlighting their roll number.
The upper age limit of the candidate should be below 28 years, as of 30th Nov, 2016. Age relaxation will be given for five years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/women/PH and three years in case of OBC (as approved by Govt. of India) candidates.
Accommodation will be provided to all the short-listed candidates appearing for the interview, free of cost, from 3rd Jan to 6th Jan, 2017 (three nights only).
If selected in the final interview, candidate having a national fellowship need to activate the fellowship as per the norms of the agency. Institute of Life Sciences will provide an equivalent fellowship to all other selected candidates not having the national fellowship. Depending on the vacancy the Ph.D. students will be provided hostel facility in first come first serve basis.
Interview will be conducted in two tiers/rounds. Candidates have to come to the Institute for two consecutive days only.
To and fro bus/rail fare by the shortest route limited to second sleeper class will be paid to all the candidates selected for the 2nd round of interview.
Interested and eligible candidates may fill-up the prescribed application form as available in ILS website (www.ils.res.in). Duly filled-up application along with self-attested copies of all relevant certificates and demand draft should be send to the Director, Institute of Life Sciences, Nalco Square, Bhubaneswar-751023. All application should reach the Institute on or before the last date. Applications received after the last date will not be accepted. The envelope should be superscribed with “Application for Ph.D. Programme”.
Short-listed candidates selected for the interview will be published in the Institute website (www.ils.res.in).
Applicants except SC/ST candidates are required to send a non-refundable D.D. for Rs.500/- in favour of “Director, Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar” payable at Bhubaneswar along with duly filled- in application form by the date mentioned below.
