University of Lucknow has released an official notification inviting all the interested, eligible candidates for admission to Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programme offered in Archaeology, Anthropology, English, Hindi, Physical Education, Public Administration, Sanskrit, Social Work and Sociology for the academic session 2016.
- The insturctions related to the online admissions are given here, which are authorized under the Act, Ordinances, Rules & Regulations of the University.
- Gap Certificate: If there is gap in taking admission after qualifying examination, then a certificate by the Notary on Rs. 10.00 Stamp paper has to be submitted at the time of admission.
- If you want benefit of reservation or zero fees, then you have to give the details of the related certificates during the filling of the Online application form. No candidate will get the permission for any change in weightage or reservation after the form is submitted.
- The detailed information of the admission procedure will be displayed on the University website. Candidates are advised to check for updates regularly on the University website.
- After declaration of the merit list a copy of the list will be displayed on the University website. The candidate himself/herself will find his/her merit number from the merit list. The merit list will not be published in the newspaper.
- The Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates originally belonging to Uttar Pradesh will be given the benefit of reservation. Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates of other states will be treated as general.
- All fees deposited at the time of registration will not be refunded under any circumstances.
- As directed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, action will be taken against the students who indulge in incidence like ragging during studentship.
- Those candidates who have been expelled from any college/institution or found guilty under Indian Penal Code are not eligible to apply for any course in the University of Lucknow.
- Reservation and income certificates shall be verified on internet.
Eligibility Rules for Admission to the M.Phil. programs
- Candidates for admission to the M.Phil. programme shall have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
- The M.Phil program will be of three semester duration.
- Of the total number of seats in any subject, 80% candidates passing the graduate/qualifying examination from the Lucknow University shall be admitted. For the remaining 20% seats, graduates from the Universities other than Lucknow University shall be admitted, provided that the merit of the candidates of other Universities is not below the merit of the last candidate admitted from Lucknow University. The seats remaining vacant shall also be filled up with the graduate of Lucknow University in order of merit index.
- Final Merit list shall be available in the concerned Departments and same will be available on the University website.
- In case of any matter relating to the Postgraduate Admissions, the decision of the Vice- Chancellor/Admission Committee, Lucknow University shall be final and binding.
- All the legal matters pertaining to the Postgraduate Admissions shall be subject to the Lucknow Jurisdiction only.
All applicants seeking admission to the M.Phil. program have to appear in an entrance test organized by the concerned department/ Institute/Coordinator appointed by the Vice Chancellor, under the overall supervision of the University.
The syllabus of the entrance test will be the same as prescribed for the PG Programmes of the University of Lucknow.
The entrance test would be of 90 minutes duration. There would be a single question paper of 100 marks having 100 multiple choice questions for assessing the subject proficiency and research aptitude of the candidate. The entrance test shall have the minimum qualifying marks as 50%.
