All India Bar Examination (AIBE), Bar Council of India (BCI) introduces changes in syllabus

A few minor changes have been introduced by the Bar Council of India (BCI) in the syllabus of All India Bar Examination (AIBE). The exam is scheduled to be conducted on March 26 and all those aspirants who have not applied yet are required to do the same at the official website www.allindiabarexamination.com

Although no official notification has been released regarding the same, one can observe the changes in the syllabus provided on the website. The subjects are taken from the syllabi prescribed by the Bar Council of India for the three-year andfive-yearr Ll.B. programmes at law schools in India.

4 new subjects added:

  • Four new subjects namely- Public Interest Litigation (four marks), Law Related to Taxation (four marks), Land Acquisition Act (two marks) and Intellectual Property Law (two marks), which were not presented earlier have been added. Also, 12 questions will be asked from these new subjects. The weightage from Family Law has been increased to eight marks.

List of omitted subjects:

  • Jurisprudence
  • Limitation Act (however, code of civil procedure and criminal procedure code have certain provisions around limitation which may still be asked)
  • Environmental Law ( questions around constitutional law and environment can still be asked)
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (one cannot rule out the possibility of questions around corporate social responsibility featuring inside the companies act quota).

About All India Bar Examination (AIBE)

AIBE is conducted by the Bar Council of India every year for testing qualifying advocates' eligibility in practicing Law across India.
