  • Sports Quota
    Eligible Games
    For Boys: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Table Tennis, Volley Ball
    For Girls: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Table Tennis, Volley Ball

    Eligibility for Sports Quota
    • Candidates must be elligible to participate in any Inter-University Sports and Games at least for two years
    • Candidates must have Participated in Inter District School, or, State Inter-School, or, State Junior, or, Open Inter-District Tournaments, or,State Open Championship, Calcutta First Division Championship
    **Certificate from the State Assosiation / Bodies, the district Officer for Physical Education, DSA, or, DSSA shall only be accepted.

  • Deduction of Marks : 2% marks from the aggregate as secured by a candidate passing the qualifying examination in a prior to the current year shall be deducted and the aggregate marks thus arrived will be taken up for consideration.

Facilities Extended To The Students

  • »  Central Library :

    • College Library, in general, remains open from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm on all working days of the college from Monday to Friday and from 10:30am to 1:30pm on Saturday.

    • Bonafide college students will be issued library cards and they can have access to the library as per established rules and regulations framed by the college.

    • A student can avail of the reading room facility on submission of his/her library card to the college library.

    • A student can borrow books from college library using lending card. Borrowed books can be kept for a period not exceeding 15 days beyond which Re.1/- per day only will be charged as fine.

    • Borrowed book(s) has to be replaced by the borrower if they are torn, damaged in any form or defaced. Students are advised to check the condition of the books they borrow fro the library.

    • Students can prepare themselves for various competitive exams of the state and national level using this library.

    Departmental Libraries :

    Almost all the honours departments have departmental library. These libraries run solely as per rules and regulations framed by the respective departments. Students benefit from these departmental libraries in addition to the benefits they get from the central college library.

  • »  N.C.C. :

    • Santipur College offers senior division training in National Cadets Corps as per the MCC acts and rules. The regular students of the college who voluntarily join the NCC are groomed into disciplined and patriotic citizens with the motto of “Unit of Discipline”.
    • There is a boys’ unit (Senior division) under the able guidance of Lieutenant Dr. Sanjoy Dhara, Lecturer in Chemistry, Santipur College and a girls’ unit (senior division) under the supervision of Smt. Mahasweta Nhattacharyya, Sr. Lecturer in Commerce, Santipur College.
    • Every year a sizeable number of cadets who clear their “B” and “C” certificate level exams get defence related jobs.
    • The cadets take part in several programmes / camps. Some even have got the rare and prestigious opportunity to take part in the Republic Day celebration in New Delhi.

  • »  N.S.S. :

    • The college has a N.S.S. unit under the supervision of Programme officer Dr. Umasankar Senapati, Lecturer in Chemistry, Santipur College. The idea of the unit is to involve students in the task of the social service, to develop a healty contact between students and teachers and to established a constructive linkage between the campus and the community.
    • The unit takes periodic drive to keep college campus clean, classroom tidy and to maintain the beauty of the college garden.
    • Students, through the NSS unit, get chance to participate in the university pragrammes and some have even participated in pre Republic day camps at places like Gawhati, Assam.

Santipur College of Nadia district is an institution of higher education of great repute which is recognized by the UGC under section 2(f) & 12(B) since 1.1.1969 and has been assessed and accredited by NAAC with B+ in March 2007. Established on 22nd July 1948 by a section noted educationists of Santipur under the drive the drive and initiative of the then M.P Pandit Laxmi Kanta Maitra, this college started its functioning at the Kharjala Garden House of Mr. Atal Bihari Maitra and was initially affiliated to University of Calcutta. The journey that commenced in a two storied building on a plot of 47 acres of land, with 48 students and with the aim of spreading higher education has now blossomed remarkably in all fields and disciplines (Science, Arts and Commerce). In the session 2009-2010 the college had 15 departments and catered to the needs of 4108 students.

The college, since 2000 is affiliated to University of Kalyani. The college has a highly qualified staff and the students pursue Honours course in 11 subjects and Major in Computer Application. The college has NCC unit (both boys and girls) with a firing range; NSS unit; a gymnasium; a vast playground, an open air theater, a huge garden consisting of several teak and mango trees. There is a study center of Netaji Subhas Open University in the college since 2004 which has currently around 800 students pursuing courses like P.G, U.G, BLIS and BPP.

Students of the college have produced some brilliant results over the recent past and the overall success rate of the students of the college has been remarkably high. The college strictly follows the rules set by the affiliating university as well as abides by the rules and regulations imposed by the Government from time to time.
