C.U. Admission Procedure


Regulation for Admission to the three year B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. (Hons. / Gen. / Major) courses of studies effective from the Academic Session 2015-16 onwards until further order:

  • A Candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is eligible for admission to the 1st Year of the 3 year B.A. / B.Sc. /B.Com (Hons. / Gen / Major) course of studies provided he / she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.
  • No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination. However the year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination. That is for the academic session 2015-16, a candidate who has passed the H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent examination upto 2012-13 is eligible to admission to the 1st year of the 3 year B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. (Hons. / Gen. / Major) course of studies.
  • For determining eligibility of admission to the Honours Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Science if studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, may be taken into account for the purpose of determining aggregate marks of best of four Subjects.
  • A candidate taking up Honours course in a subject must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
    Or 55% marks in subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
    Or 50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in his / her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.
  • Candidate belonging to the SC/ST community taking up Honours course of study must have obtained a minimum of 40% in the aggregate or 40% in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying examination, as the case may be.

Students who have passed the H.S. (10+2) examination or its equivalent from All India Board Councils (i.e, CBSE, ISC and National Institute of Open Schooling) need not require to submit the migration certificate for getting Registration under Calcutta University.

Colleges are requested to keep the students strength for each subject according to the intake capacity as sanctioned by the University.

Colleges are further requested to kindly ensure that the students are admitted in the college in accordance with the relevant regulations in force (i.e., Notification No. CSR/20/08 dated 20.05.2008).
