Admission Notice (2018-19)

ADMISSION DETAILS OF 3-YEARS SEMESTER WISE B.A/B.SC/B.COM HONS AND GENL. COURSE UNDER CBCS

  1. A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is eligible to seek admission in the 1st year of the 3- year B.A / B.Sc / B.Com (Hons / General) Course of Studies provide he / she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.00

  2. For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Hons. course, aggregate marks should be calculated by adding the marks in Best Four subjects in order of marks secured by the candidate (excluding the marks for Environmental Studies / Environmental Education).
  3. A candidate taking up Hons. course must have obtained 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
    Or
    55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination
    Or
    50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in his or her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are statisfied.
  4. However for Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe community taking Hons. the minimum 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subjects at previous qualifying exam as the case may be.
  5. For B.Com Hons course related Subjects mean (any one) Accountancy, Business Economics including Business Mathematics, Business Organization, Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business Studies, Office and Secretarial Practice, Financial Accounting, Elements of Cost Accountancy & Auditing, Book Keeping, Commerce, Cost Accountancy & Principle of Management.
  6. For admission to Microbiology Hons course a student must pass in Biology / Biotechnology and Chemistry in the previous qualifying examination.
  7. To take up Honours in Food & Nutrition (Home Science Group) a candidate must qualify in Chemistry at the previous qualifying examination.
  8. For Computer Science Hons course a candidate should pass in Computer Application / Computer Science / Physics / Statistics / Electronics and in Mathematics.
  9. No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognized regular Course of Studies after passing the previous qualifying examination. The year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating five years from the year of passing the previous qualifying Examination.
  10. Students applying for admission should come with relevant & valid documents. Candidates are required to apply in the prescribed format. Application Form is available at college office on payment of required fees and on fulfillment of eligibility criteria as per C.U norms.
  11. Admission process will be strictly on the basis of merit.
  12. For three years B.A / B.Sc Hons and Genl course a student is required to study on Hons. subject and two subsidiary subjects as General (Elective 1 and Elective 2). In addition she / he needs to study Compulsory English and any one of Bengali / Hindi / Alt English (MIL).
  13. The following documents are required to be submitted at the time of deposit of Application form:
    1. Photocopy of Mark sheet and Admit card of Secondary & Higher Secondary Examination (or 10 & 10+2 Board Examination) attested by the Head of the Institution.
    2. Attested photocopy of Proof of Date of Birth.
    3. Documents in support of SC / ST / OBC wherever applicable (attested photocopy).
    4. Address Proof (Photocopy).
    5. Photocopy of Aadhar Card.
  14. Migration Certificate in original, if a candidate is migrating from other Board / University except ISC / CBSE / NIOS, is required to be submitted at the time of admission.
  15. Admission to any course in the college is provisional and is subject to the final approval from University of Calcutta.

6.50am - 10.30 am : B.Com (Hons & Genl)
11 am onwards : B.A / B.Sc / B.Com (Hons & Genl)

ATTENDANCE REGULATIONS & PATTERN OF ASSESSMENT


Regulation for Attendance in the Semesterised B.Com Three Years Degree Programme (Choice Based Credit System) 2017, University of Calcutta.

(Ref: Extract from Examination Regulation, University Notification No. CSR/64/17, dt.14.09.2017).

Attendance

  • A student attending at least 75% of the total number of classes* held shall be allowed to sit for the concerned Semester Examinations subject to fulfillment of other conditions laid down in the regulations.
  • A student attending at least 60% but less than 75% of the total number of classes* held shall be allowed to appear for the concerned Semester Examinations subject to the payment of prescribed condonation fees and fulfillment of other conditions laid down in the regulations.
  • A student attending less than 60% of the total number of classes* held shall not be allowed to sit for the concerned Semester Examinations and he/she has to take admission to the same Semester in the very next year for attending the classes and appearing at the said Semester Examination.
  • Such attendance will be calculated from the date of commencement of classes or date of admission whichever is later.


Pattern of Assessment
End Semester Examinations will be held for 80% of the total marks in each paper/subject/Module and Internal Assessment shall be for 20% of the total marks of each paper/subject/module. 50% of the total marks assigned to Internal Assessment (i.e. 10 marks for a full paper of 100 or 5 marks for a Module of 50, as the case may be) will be assessed on the basis of Internal Examination written form and remaining 50% will be assessed based on the class attendance (5 marks for attending 60% or more but less than 75% of the number of lectures delivered and 10 marks for attending 75% or more of lectures delivered, and such attendance will be calculated from the date of commencement of classes or date of admission whichever is later.
N.B.- A candidate shall have to clear all the Semester within 5 years from the academic year of his /her first admission to any college affiliated to the university failing which enrolment of the candidate shall stand cancelled.

Attendance

  • A student attending at least 75% of the total number of classes* held shall be allowed to sit for the concerned Semester Examinations subject to fulfillment of other conditions laid down in the regulations.
  • A student attending at least 60% but less than 75% of the total number of classes* held shall be allowed to appear for the concerned Semester Examinations subject to the payment of prescribed condonation fees and fulfillment of other conditions laid down in the regulations.
