Free Coaching for West Bengal Civil Services Examinations (WBCS 2017-18)

General Instruction to the Candidates:

• Applicant should be a domicile of West Bengal and must belong to a Minority Community.
• Applications are invited from candidates with Bachelor’s degree or above from any stream with atleast 50% marks in Class X, XII & Graduation. Candidates with less than 50% marks at these examinations need not apply. The age of applicants should be between 21 years to 28 years as on 01.01.2017. Upper age limit is relaxable by 3 (three) years for OBC candidates.
• Candidates who have availed the Coaching as Residential candidate in any of the previous batches under Aliah University, WBCS Coaching Programme, cannot apply for Residential Coaching. However, he/she may apply for Non-Residential (Day-Scholar) category.
• The list of eligible candidates who will sit for Selection Test will be displayed in the University’s website after scrutiny of Application Forms on 8th February, 2017.
• Shortlisted candidates appearing for Selection Test should download their Admit Card from Aliah University’s website from 9th February, 2017 onwards.
• The Selection Test will be held at Aliah University, New Town Campus, IIA/27, New Town, Kolkata-700156 on 18th February, 2017 at 11:00 am. (The candidates must enter the Examination Hall by 10:30 am.) Bringing of any electronics gadgets, such as, mobile phone, calculator, etc. in the Examination Hall is strictly prohibited.
• The Selection Test will follow the pattern of WBCS (Exe.) Prelims. Exams of West Bengal Public Service Commission.
• Duration of the Test will be of 2½ hours and will include the following sections in MCQ pattern and descriptive pattern (only for English section) :
  • Arithmetic & Test of Reasoning
  • Current Affairs
  • General Studies
  • English (including descriptive)
• The result of the Selection Test with the names of the selected candidates for appearing in the Interview will be displayed through the University’s website on 25th February, 2017. Candidates appearing in the Interview will have to secure a minimum qualifying marks in the Interview as may be fixed by the Interview Board.
• Date of Interview for the shortlisted candidates will be : 4th, 5th, 18th & 19th March, 2017.
• Candidates who have appeared in WBCS (Exe.) Mains Exams. 2016 or WBCS (Exe.) Prelims Exams. 2017 or in both the Exams., must bring their PSC Admit Card at the time of Interview.
• Final result will be published in the University’s website on 31st March, 2017.
• 40 candidates (boys + girls) will be selected for Residential Coaching and will have to stay in the Hostel and attend full-time classes. Their cost of coaching, food and lodging will be borne by Aliah University.
• Approx. 50 candidates (boys + girls) will be selected for Non-Residential Coaching (as Day-scholars) and will attend classes on Saturdays and Sundays. Their coaching will be free of cost and free lunch will be provided to them on the days of coaching by Aliah University.
• Only dedicated candidates, who have strong ambition for becoming administrators and those who will not leave the training programme mid-way in any exigencies, are welcome.
• Counselling and Admission of the selected candidates will be held on 30th April, 2017. All selected candidates are to report at Aliah University WBCS Coaching Centre, Azad Bhawan, DD-45, Sector 1, Salt Lake City, Kolkata-700064 at 9:00 am positively.
• Selected candidates for Residential Coaching will have to deposit a Caution Money of Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) at the time of admission. For Non-Residential Coaching, candidates will have to deposit a Caution Money of Rs. 2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand only) at the time of admission. The Caution Money will be refunded to the candidates on completion of Session 2017-18 of WBCS Coaching, after deducting the cost of damage, if any, caused to the Centre. If the candidates drop out in the mid-session, the amount of Caution Money will be forfeited.
• At the time of admission, the Residential candidates will have to deposit their original documents including their marksheets and certificates, which will be retained at the Centre’s Office, and will be returned only after completion of the Programme (Session 2017-18).
• Classes are scheduled to start from 1st May, 2017.
• If there is any change in the dates mentioned above, the same will be duly notified in the University’s website.

NB : If an applicant is found ineligible or submitted any wrong information detected at a later date even after admission, his/her admission will be cancelled. The decision of the authority regarding the eligibility of any applicant shall be final.
