  • Applications supported by attested photocopies of testimonials of all the public examinations along with valid GATE score card certificate, wherever applicable and a document towards proof of age must reach the office of the undersigned on or before 31th July, 2017. Sponsored candidates must also submit a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from their present employers. Candidates claiming reservation against SC/ST/PH quota must submit valid certificates from appropriate authorities. Forms will be issued during the period from 03.07.2017 to 31.07.2017.
  • The applicants would be classified in three categories viz.
    - Category A : GATE-qualified B.E./B.Tech. candidates,
    - Category B : Sponsored Candidates having at least 2 years’ working experience in related field after passing out and
    - Category C : Non-GATE B.E./B.Tech. Candidates.
  • Candidates falling under category C will be considered for admission only if seats remain vacant after admission of candidates under Categories A & B. A written test of one hour duration will be held to prepare a short list of candidates falling under category C.
  • Selection criteria :
    Merit of selection of the candidates under different categories would be determined on the basis of the following :
    - For Category-A : GATE Score (70%), marks in B.E./B.Tech. (10%) and performance in the interview (20%);
    - For Category-B (Sponsored) : Performance in the interview and work experience;
    - For Category-C : Marks of written test (70%), marks in B.E./B.Tech (10%) and performance in the interview (20%).
  • List of selected/short listed candidates, as applicable, will be displayed in the notice board at the office of the Faculty Council (Science) office at Golapbag, Burdwan, the Department of Physics, Burdwan University and also university website (www.buruniv.ac.in). No postal correspondence will be made in this regard. Information may, however, be gathered over telephone Nos. (0342) 2634975 Extn. 241/228.
  • Candidates will be required to produce original copies of their testimonials at the time of interview and also at the time of admission, if selected. Sponsored candidates must submit necessary release order from the appropriate authorities.
  • The portion of the form bearing acknowledgement shall be treated as the Provisional Admit Card without which the applicants may not be allowed to sit for the admission test/appear at the interview.
  • Candidates admitted to the course shall not be permitted to prosecute any other course of studies or to do any job (part-time or full-time) or to carry on any full-time research work during the tenure of the course.
  • Application forms may be had from the university website (http://www.buruniv.ac.in) also. However, it is desired that forms along with a prospectus be collected personally from the Sales Counter of the University following the procedure as stated in the advt. and filled-in forms be submitted to the office of the undersigned. This will enable one to receive on the spot an 'Acknowledge Slip cum Provisional Admit Card'. In case of unavoidable situations, however, candidates may apply on the basis of forms downloaded from the website but such forms, duly filled-in, must reach to "The Secretary, Faculty Council (Sc), The University of Burdwan, Golabag, Burdwan - 713 104" on or before 31.07.2017 along with a copy of the challan for payment of Rs. 450/- to the Cash Section of the University or a Demand Draft for Rs. 450/- drawn in favour of the "Finance Officer, Burdwan University", payable at "SBI, Burdwan University Branch, Burdwan" and a self-addressed stamped envelope for sending the Provisional Admit Card.   • Classes for the course are likely to commence from 11th August, 2017 (if all seats are filled up from Category A and B Candidates) OR from 21th August, 2017
  • For GATE-qualified candidates, unique student ID would be created in the AICTE portal within 15 working days of commencement of classes (subject to technical feasibility) for availing GATE scholarship from AICTE. For the purpose, the students MUST have to fulfill the necessary requirements prescribed by the Department. On obtaining the Unique student’s ID, a student has to give at list 15 working days’ advance notice to cancel his/ her studentship from the course.
  • As per requirements of AICTE, all students admitted to the course and their parents/ guardians MUST submit anti-ragging affidavits in the prescribed format in NJ stamp paper of Rs 10/-. Prescribed formats would be supplied at the time of admission. As per directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, it is notified that in any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the institution.
