Admission Criteria for B.Ed. Course, 2017-2019

Admission to the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course will follow the norms set by NCTE, the State Government and University of Calcutta.
  • Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences / Humanities/ Social Science, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent there to are eligible for admission to the programme. Requirement of 50% (fifty) marks shall not apply for persons appointed as teachers prior to the commencement of the NCTE, (Regulations, Norms & Procedure) Second Amendment Regulations, 2010 as laid down at para 8(i) of the aforesaid Gazette.

    The relaxation of marks for SC/ST/PWD is 5%.
  • Reservation of seats for B.Ed admission (only for fresher category)
    i) Calcutta University............80%
    ii) Other University (OU).......20%
  • Reservation of Seats for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Person with Disability(PWD) will be as follows:
    i) Scheduled Caste...............22%
    ii) Scheduled Tribe...............6%
    iii) PWD................................3%
  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe from other states will not get the reservation facility for SC/ST.
  • Deputed Candidates shall be selected only on the basis of period of approved service mentioned in Clause 8.
  • Age-limit:
    For fresher students (General Category)............40 years (as on 30th June.)
    For Deputed Students (General Category)..........NO age bar.
    Age-limit is relaxable for maximum 5(five) years for students belonging to SC, ST and PWD categories.
  • Fresher (non-deputed) candidates will be selected on the basis of Academic Merit only. Weightage given for Academic Performance and the calculation of Grade Marks are as follows:

    *Academic Marks will be awarded only at single stage of Under Graduate and Research Degree Level.
    Weightage in respect of UG, PG and higher degrees will be given only if the said degree is in the concerned method subject. For (iv) & (v) best of 5 subjects & all subjects will be considered respectively, in calculation of Grade Marks.
  • Teachers teaching in classes IX to XII only can apply as Deputed Teacher. Selection of Deputed Teacher of Higher Secondary School / Secondary School / Madrasah affiliated to W.B.B.S.E / W.B.B.M.E will be made on the basis of the period of approved services in the School / Madrasah. In case applicants having equal service in Secondary School / Madrasah, preference will be given to the candidates having higher Academic Qualifications. In case of both the Period of Service and Academic Qualifications are equal, selection will be made on the basis of percentage of marks obtained by the candidates in different examinations in their career and candidates having higher grade marks will be selected (Grade Marks calculation will be done as meant for fresher candidates.)
  • Reservation of 50% seats for Deputed Teachers and 50% for the fresher’s for admission to B.Ed courses will be followed for University Department only. In the event of these seats remaining unfulfilled, they may be de-reserved and offered to freshers, with prior approval of the University.
  • The method subject should be in the form of subject quota depending on the number of subjects being offered by the Department of Education , C.U.
  • As per NCTE norms the pedagogy of school subject should have a maximum of 25 students for admission.
Students should be selected strictly on the basis of merit.

The following Method Subjects (total no. of seat is mentioned in the bracket) are offered from this Department, University of Calcutta, duly approved by the University authority.

1. Bengali, 2. English, 3. Sanskrit, 4. Mathematics, 5. History, 6. Geography, 7. Economics, 8. Accountancy and Book Keeping, 9. Education, 10. Political Science, 11. Hindi, 12. Urdu, 13. Arabic.

* A candidate having Honours or Post-graduate, he or she must opt for the paper from the given list of method papers in which he or she possess Honours or Post-graduate as his or her method paper for admission in the B.Ed. course of this institution (only for fresher’s).

Total No. of Seat : 50 (Deputed – 25 ; Fresher – 25)

N.B : Only one seat is allotted to each subject i.e. Bengali, English, History, Education & Mathematics for the candidates of Other University ( Total seat allotted for Fresher / O.U.- 05).

Important Dates

  • Submission of online application commences on : 18.05.2017
  • Last date of online application submission : 25.05.2017
  • Last date of e-receipt of payment : 26.05.2017 (up to 11:30 P.M.)
  • Provisional merit list will be published on the Notice Board of University of Calcutta Alipore campus as well as website 31.05.2017
  • Provisional merit list short listed candidates will be published on the Notice Board of C.U. Alipore Campus as well as website on 01.06.2017
  • Submission of printed copy of Application Form, e-receipt of payment etc. at Calcutta University, Alipore Campus from 18.05.2017 to 26.05.2017 (12:00 Noon to 3:00 P.M.)
  • Date of admission and counselling for Deputed and Freshers candidates : 13.06.2017
    (candidates are requested to report along all original testimonials at Alipore Campus, University of Calcutta on 11:00 A.M.).

Selection Methodology

Teachers teaching in classes IX to XII only can apply as Deputed Teacher. Selection of Deputed Teacher of Higher Secondary School / Secondary School / Madrasah affiliated to W.B.B.S.E. / W.B.B.M.E. will be made on the basis of the period of approved services in the School / Madrasah. Application fee (Rs. 300/- for General & Rs. 150/- for SC/ST/PWD) to be made through SBI Collect (e-challan payment only).

  • Acknowledgement Slip
  • Copy of e-receipt downloaded from 'Payment History' under STATE BANK COLLECT.
  • Self Attested true copies of marks-sheets of all the examinations passed (10th Standard onwards.)
  • Proof of Date of Birth Certificate.
  • SC/ ST / PWD Certificate , if applicable.
  • Deputed teachers will have to submit with the application form (i) Approval letter of concerned District Inspector of School, (ii) Appointment letter, (iii) Joining letter in school, (iv) Managing Committee Resolution copy countersigned by the D.I. (if approved)
  • Released order from school duly signed by the Head Master / Secretary / Administrator / will be submitted at the time of admission.
  • Deputed teachers will get their deputation allowances from their respective Schools/Institutions vide Modification order no. 490-SE(S) dt. 11.5.2009 issued by Secretary, School Education, Govt. of West Bengal bearing letter no.1022-SE(S) 2P-1/09 dt. 2.9.2011.
  • Complete filled in application in all respect including necessary documents i.e. Attested Xerox copy of Madhyamik Admit Card or any other valid age proof certificate, all Marksheets, Certificate of special claim (SC/ST/PH) will be submitted within specified date.Incomplete applications will be rejected forthwith.
  • While under training both the deputed and fresher students must abide by the rules of theUniversity of Calcutta. Break of rules and violation of order of the Department as well as misconduct of any type shall render a student liable to be penalized as per University rules.
How to Pay Application Fee through State Bank Collect
MODE OF PAYMENT:
Application Fee
Application Fee : Rs. 300/- (for GENERAL and others candidate) and Rs. 150/- (for SC/ST/PWD candidate) for each course of application.
Two payment methods are available i.e. online payment through Internet Banking /ATM cum Debit Card/Credit Card or by cash deposition at any State Bank Branch.

The instructions for the On-Line Payment of Application Fees :
The Application Fees can be paid through State Bank Collect online Banking from anywhere. Facility can be operated by student's parents also through their online banking facility. However, they should enter their ward's details correctly. The steps stated below shall be strictly followed. This facility is available to students and parents having "SBl internet banking facility or SBI ATM-cum-Debit Card".. Account Online Transaction facility".
In addition to this, the students and parents having "Other Bank Debit Cards or Credit Cards" can also log on to www.onlinesbi.com and make their Payments of Fees through this portal following the instructions given below. Bank Commission is Rs. 10/- to Rs. 15/-as applicable extra to be borne by the candidate.
Instructions for Payment of Fees through State Bank Collect from SBI Portal (Steps 1 to 27)

    A. Online Payment :

  • Go to https://www.onlinesbi.com/prelogin/icollecthome.htm (Kindly note that last date & time of online submission of fees is 25/05/2016 up to 11:30p.m)
  • Read and Tick Mark ( v check box) on Accept Terms & Conditions.
  • Click on Proceed.
  • Select State of Corporate/Institution: West Bengal (from drop down menu).
  • Select Type of Corporate/Institution: Educational Institutions (from drop down menu).
  • Click on GO.
  • Select Educational Institutions Name: Calcutta University PG ONLINE SYSTEM and press Submit.
  • Select Payment Category: B.Ed. Admission
  • Enter Your 1) Name 2) DOB 3) Application No. 4) User ID (Your Email) 5) Category 6) Mobile No. 7) Fee Amount.
  • Again enter your name, DOB, Mobile Number for e-receipt.
  • Enter Remarks (If you like to add for your information).
  • Enter the Text as shown in the Image appearing on screen
  • Click on Submit.
  • Please verify the entries carefully for its correctness. Once transaction is completed cannot be reverted.
  • Click on Confirm.
  • You will see State Bank Multiple Options Payment System (MoPS)
  • You may choose Net Banking (SBI only) or Card payments.
  • In Card Payments, you have three options: 1. SBI ATM-cum-Debit Card, 2. Other Bank Debit Cards and 3. Credit Cards (Check the Bank Charges, appearing against all these options)
  • Note that Bank Charges are minimum for SBI Net Banking and SBI ATM-cum-Debit Card.
  • B. Payment by Cash :

    If you select payment mode in Cash, you will get option for bank as SBI. Bank Commission is extra to be borne by the candidate.
    Instructions for Payment of Fees by Cash through “State Bank Collect” from SBI Portal www.onlinesbi.com (follow Steps 1 to 24 as mentioned above then)
  • Click on the other payment mode option as SBI Branch.
  • Follow the further process as per the instructions appearing on screen.
  • Print Pre acknowledgement Payment (PAP) for cash payment through any SBI Branch
  • Go to any SBI Branch and make the payment on production of the PAP.
  • After payment Print e-Receipt from State Bank Collect.
  • Please take Photo Copy of e-Receipt.
  • Attach / Photo copy of e-receipt with Application form for submission at the University Office or by post / Courier on the days specified and displayed on the website.

For any problem regarding SBI Payment may contact SBI Executive at 9674712745 (within 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. except Sundays and holidays). Please do not call SBI Executive for payment status after getting e-receipt. After Payment to update payment status in the database required 2/3 working days.
Application to be submitted through online only. No Hardcopy of Application Form will be issued. For online application please logon to www.caluniv-ucsta.net.

If you are a new user of this online system please register yourself on the website by creating Account with Unique User ID (your Email id) and password. Please do remember your User ID and Password you have created.

The candidate need not fill in the form with one attempt. The data already entered by the applicant will remain stored in the database. The applicant can once again access his/her form by using his/her User ID and Password in the form at the top right corner of the page http://www.caluniv-ucsta.net/bed/phpfiles/main.php.

Information required for filling in the Form
  • Marks / Grade obtained in major Examinations from 10th Standard onwards.
  • Income of family per month.
  • Scanned Photo (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm) in jpg / jpeg format and size < 50 KB.
  • One printed copy of the same photo required to be pasted on the application form.
  • An Email-Id cannot be used more than once. A different Email should be taken, if required.

Instructions for filling in the Form
  • Open the Page http://www.caluniv-ucsta.net/bed/phpfiles/main.php.
  • Click the ‘Click here to register’ link at the bottom of the Login form.
  • Fill in the Registration Form.
  • With the Email id as User-id and chosen Password, you’ll be directed to the Admission Form.
  • The Admission Form consists of 4 pages shown as Menu:
    • Personal Information
    • Academic Information
    • Assessment Table
    • Employment Information
    • Upload Photo
    • Payment Information
  • In the Academic Information Page, enter the marks, subjects etc. of different examinations from 10th standard onwards chronologically.
  • Proceed filling in the form from ‘Personal Info’ page to ‘Payment Info’ page, one after another. One cannot jump to a particular page of the form without filling in the previous page.
  • ‘Save’ button stores the data of that particular page and stays in that page, whereas ‘Save & Continue’ stores the data of that page and proceeds to the next page.
  • One need not fill in the form at one go. Data will remain stored.
  • Before ‘Final Submission’ of the form available in ‘Payment Info’ page, one may print the draft form, Employment Form (for deputed teachers only), and Grade Marks Form to check the data inserted by the user.
  • Before ‘Final Submission’ of the form available in ‘Payment Info’ page, one can modify the data in different pages by clicking the hyperlinks available on the tabs.
  • After ‘Final Submission’ of the form, the user cannot edit data in the form anymore.
