Online submission of application(s) for admission to B.Ed. Course 2017-18


Important Last Date of online submission of applications is 22/05/2017.

Last Date of submission of application fees through SBI I-Collect System (using Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card) is 25/05/2017. After payment through online please print the e-receipt for further reference.
Upload the fees deposit details within 28/5/2017 in the website. If any candidate do not upload the details within 28/5/2017, his/her application shall not be completed. Incomplete and/or incorrect application shall be liable to be cancelled.

Enter Date of Birth as ddmmyyyy in SBI server at the time of online payment of application fees.

Provisional merit list will be published on 16/06/2017 after 6:00 P.M.

*** 50% marks in graduation or post-graduation degree shall not apply for persons appointed as teachers prior to the commencement of the National Council for Teacher Education (Regulations, Norms and Procedure) second Amendment Regulation 2010.

Only those teachers who are teaching in class IX, X, XI and XII are eligible under Deputed category.

In order to be considered under the deputed category the teachers from Secondary/Higher Secondary schools affiliated to W.B.B.S.E./W.B.C.H.S.E. must produce a copy of the appointment letter from the District Inspector of Schools and a No Objection Certificate from the Managing Committee of the school duly countersigned by the District Inspector of Schools (The Managing Committee must clearly certify whether or not the teacher teaches in class IX, X, XI and XII), at the time of interview and admission. Jadavpur University will not take the responsibility of disbursement of deputation allowance.

** Candidates who have passed his/her last examination through a distance learning mode have to sit for a written qualifying test to be eligible for admission.

All applicants must have completed results at Bachelors (Honours) level and also passed in all papers.

# Current students who have appeared in M.A/M.Sc 4th semester (second year second semester) examination 2017 securing at least 40% marks in each course and at least 50% (40% for SC/ST and 45% for PD) marks in the aggregate of all marks obtained in 1st, 2nd and 3rd semester examinations are also eligible. For such candidates the percentage of marks (in case of grade, the mid value of the corresponding range should be inputed for marks) obtained in the aggregate of 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters examinations will be considered for preparing the merit list. Therefore, they should input the total marks of three(3) semester examinations of M.A/M.Sc course. At the time of counseling/ admission those students (if provisionally selected) must submit a proof of completion of M.A/ M.Sc Final Examination, 2017 authenticated by the appropriate authority of his/her college/ institute/ university in prescribed format (click here). They will be required to submit their marksheet positively by September 15, 2017.

Their provisional admission shall be automatically cancelled if they are not declared to have passed securing at least the minimum percentage of marks as mentioned above in the aggregate of all marks obtained in 1st, 2nd and 3rd semester examinations after the publication of the results of the fourth semester examination. Their provisional admission will be cancelled even if they are declared eligible for Special Supplementary Examination 2017 or any such Examinations as per the Examination Rules of the University concerned.

If a student’s marks in any particular examination at any level increases after review of his/her result for that examination by the concerned Institute/University after the last date of submission of online application (22/5/2017), such additional marks shall not be considered hereafter and at the time of counselling/admission.

The available method subjects are Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Mathematics, Physical Science, Work Education and Education.

For PD category

  • Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under PWD (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.
  • Candidates who have applied under PD category must submit an attested photocopy of certificate of disability issued by the compitant authority along with a photocopy of online payment receipt within 26th May, 2017 (5:00 P.M.) to the Office of the Dean and the Secretary, Faculty Council of Arts, Ground Floor, UG Arts Building, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032. The photocopy of the certificate and online payment receipt may also be sent by post. The last date of receiving the certificates by post is 26th May, 2017 (5:00 P.M.).
  • Applicants under PD category will have to appear before an expert committee to be constituted by the University.

For SC/ST category

As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes of the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal. Such students may get the benefit of reserve quota if they have domicile certificate of 10 years residency in West Bengal.

Selection Procedure

Fresher Candidates will be selected in order of merit calculated on the basis of the following score :
For Secondary or equivalent
(On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained)
% of marks x 0.1
For Higher Secondary or equivalent % of marks** x 0.2
** Obtained Marks will be calculated on the basis of:
1. W.B.C.H.S.E.: Best of 4 subjects excluding marks of Environmental Studies / Environmental Education (out of 400 marks)
2. Central Board of Secondary Education / Council for the Indian School Certificate / Other Boards : Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
For Honours Graduates
(On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in Honours paper only)
% of marks x 0.3
For Post Graduate % of marks x 0.4

Selection of teachers under Deputed category will be made on the basis of number of years of uninterrupted approved service in Government or Government aided schools (calculated as on 22/5/2017).

As per circular Nos.
