Announcement of admission for two (2) year full time M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication for session 2017-19 offered by Department of Adult Continuing Education & Extension (DACEE).

Applications are invited from Indian citizens.
Application from & Relevant instructions will be available from our website www.jaduniv.edu.in from 22.05.2017.
Last date of submission of duly filled in Application From at DACEE in person or by Post on or before 09.06.2017 along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 100/- (preferably from S.B.I.) in favour of ‘Jadavpur University’ payable at Kolkata.

Eligibility : 3-Year B.A. Honours degree from a recognised University with at least 50% marks (45% for PD / Sports / OBC-A / OBC-B category and 40% for SC / ST category) in Honours / Major papers.
(In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the B.A. Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)

Course Fee : Rs. 60,000/. (Rs. 30,000/- per year)

Admission Test (written) : 19.06.2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Jadavpur University.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates who have completed B.A. Final Results and fulfill the eligibility conditions laid down below may apply for admissions to M.A Course for the academic session 2017-18.
  • A candidate who has appeared or due to appear in the B.A. Final Year/Semester Examination 2017, within 31st May 2017 may also apply, provided he/she fulfills the minimum eligibility criteria (laid down below) in Honours/Major papers in the earlier parts/semesters (PART I/ PART II examinations or semesters up to the Final semester) together. For such a candidate the latest available marks Honours/Major papers in semester system/ annual system of examination will be considered for preparing the merit list. Such a candidate, if provisionally selected for admission, shall have to produce a certificate in the prescribed format that his/her B.A. Final Examination has been completed on or before the time of counselling/admission.
  • For any candidate, increase in marks due to post-publication review/scrutiny after the closing dates of application for admissions to M.A. Course for the academic session 2017-18, shall NOT be considered, and his/her merit position shall NOT be changed.
  • For a candidate selected provisionally for admission, if it is found at the time of admissions that the marks he/she had stated at the time of application is more than what he/she has actually obtained (as in his/her mark-sheets), then his/her merit position shall be revised accordingly and he/she may be denied admission.
  • Selection will be done on the basis of written test only. Reservation rule of the State Government will be followed.
  • For PD category:
  • Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under PWD (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.
  • For SC/ST category:
  • As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89 SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.
  • FOR OBC-A/OBC-B Category:
  • The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBC- B categories must produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than June 2016) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) they belong to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at the time of counselling/admission.

Anti-Ragging

Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the University shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the University to immediately report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in University hostel or on University campus.

If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority would expel him/her from the University.
