- 3 years bachelor’s degree with honours/major in Bengali language and literature
- at least 60% marks in Honours/major

M.A. in Comparative Literature |
- 50% in the aggregate at the Bachelors level and:

Pre-requisite : Knowledge of English, to be proven in one of the following ways:
- Proof of English as medium of instruction at the school level
- Certificate of proficiency in English such as TOEFL, IELTS, etc.
- Test administered by the department (may be an online written cum spoken test).
- Candidates with an Honours degree in any literature or non-literature subject, or degree in Engineering / Technology / Medical Science or any other recognized Bachelor’s degree may apply.
- All candidates with a non-literature degree will be required to submit a Statement of Purpose of approx 1,000-2,000 words, demonstrating interest and understanding of Comparative Literature.

M.A. in Economics |
- 3 years bachelor’s degree in Economics
- at least 60% marks in Honours/major in Economics
- must have studied at least 100 marks (or 8 credit) of mathematics at the undergraduate level
- certificate of proficiency in English such as TOEFL, IELTS, etc.

M.A. in English |
- Successful completion of Major or three-year undergraduate course, of which at least one paper must be on English literature; and,
- Proof of proficiency in the English language through appropriate certification, such as, TOEFL;
- Satisfaction performance in online audio visual interview and English proficiency test, using online chatting and texting options, such as through Skype.
- Submission of a writing sample of the specific length and satisfactory standard.

M.A. in Film Studies |
- An applicant having Major or Honours in ‘Film Studies’/‘Film and Media Studies’/‘Screen Studies’ with English as medium of instruction will be admitted without screening/examination.
- An applicant having a minimum of 3 years bachelor’s degree with honours/major in any discipline in Arts/Science/ Commerce/ Engineering, etc. will require passing an online audio visual interview and English proficiency test by using online chatting and texting options such as provided by Skype.
- The same admission procedure (c) above will apply to 3-year bachelor’s degree holders without honours/major but with subjects mentioned in (b) above covering a minimum of 300 marks or 24 credits.

M.A. in International Relations |
- a minimum of 3 years bachelor’s degree with Honours/Major in International Relations /Political Science
- at least 60% marks in Honours/Major

Masters in Library & Information Science |
- Bachelor’s degree in Library & Information Science with 60% in aggregate
- satisfactory performance in the written qualifying test to be conducted by the department
- Certificate of proficiency in the English language such as, TOEFL, IELTS.

M.A. in Philosophy |
- 3 years bachelor’s degree with Honours/Major in any discipline
- a Statement of Purpose of approx 1,000-2,000 words, demonstrating interest in and understanding of Indian/Western/Contemporary Philosophy

M.A. in Sanskrit |
- a minimum of 3 years bachelor’s degree with honours/major in Sanskrit with at least 60% marks.
- Proficiency in Devanagari Script (both reading and writing)
- Certificate of proficiency in the English language such as, TOEFL, IELTS.

M.A. in Sociology |
- a minimum of 3 years bachelor’s degree with honours/major in Sociology with at least 60% marks (or Grade A)
- Proof of proficiency in the English language through appropriate certification, such as, TOEFL

M.A. in Linguistics |
- Bachelor’s degree with Honours/Major in Linguistics or Bachelor’s Degree in any literature subject with Linguistics as a paper, with at least 60% in aggregate
- Certificate of proficiency in the English language such as, TOEFL, IELTS.
