Publication of list of provisionally selected candidates for Master of Library and Information Science in Digital Library (MLISC in Digital Library) 18/05/2018 after 4:00 P.M.
For Master of Library and Information Science
Deputed Candidates Bachelor's Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with minimum 3 years of experience (as on the date for submission of application) after passing BLIS as a whole-time salaried staff member in a recognized library or information center.
Other Candidates Bachelor's Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with minimum 55% marks in BLIS (41.25% for SC/ST and 49.5% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B).
For Master of Library and Information Science (Digital Library)
Deputed Candidates Bachelor's Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with minimum 3 years of experience (as on the date for submission of application) after passing BLIS as a whole-time salaried staff member in a recognized library or information center.
Other Candidates Bachelor's Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with minimum 55% marks in BLIS (41.25% for SC/ST and 49.5% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B).
  • All applicants must have completed results of Bachelor's and BLIS Degree course or equivalent degree from any University/Institute recognized by the UGC at the time of application.
  • Applications with incomplete results shall be rejected. A candidate shall be denied admission (even if he/she is provisionally selected on the basis of information provided by the applicant) if, at the time of verification of results, it is detected by the Faculty Office/Department of Library and Information Science that his/her results are not complete.
  • For candidates under SC/ST Quota:
    As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.
  • For candidates under OBC Quota:
    The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBC-B categories must produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than June 2017) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) they belong to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at the time of counselling/ admission.
    OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency issued by competent authority.
  • For Candidates under PD category:
    Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under PWD (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.
    Candidates who will apply under PD category must submit an attested photocopy of certificate of disability issued by the competent authority along with a photocopy of bank challan within 10th May, 2018 (5pm) at the Office of the Dean and the Secretary, Faculty Council of Arts, Ground Floor, UG Arts Building, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032. The self-attested photocopy of the certificate and bank challan may also be sent by post. The last date of receiving the certificates by post is 10th May, 2018.

    Applicants under PD category will have to appear before an expert committee to be constituted by the University. The date will be notified later.
  • Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the University shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the University to immediately report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in University hostel or on University campus.
  • If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority would expel him/her from the University.
Selection procedure For Master of Library and Information Science and Master of Library and Information Science (Digital Library):

Selection of candidates in the respective categories will be made in order of merit ascertained on the basis of 50% weightage on the marks secured in the BLIS examination and 50% weightage on the marks secured in the Written Admission Test.
