Admission Notification in PG course

Online applications, are invited from eligible Honours graduate candidates for admission into following PG Courses (2 years – 4 Semesters).

M.A. in Bengali, English, Sanskrit, Santali, History, Education, Political Science, Philosophy, Sociology, Economics, Geography and Anthropology & Tribal Studies.

M. Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Zoology.

Eligibility :

03 year Hons graduates in relevant subjects. Required year of graduation for regular courses.

For MA in Anthropology & Tribal Studies – 03 years Hons graduates in Sociology, History, Anthropology, Political Science, Philosophy, Geography and Economics may also apply.

For MA in Sociology : 03 years Hons graduates in Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Economics, History &Philosophy may also apply.

For MA in Economics : 03 years Hons graduates in Economics, Mathematics, Physics, BE/ B. Tech may also apply.

Admission will be made strictly in order of merit by taking into consideration percentage of Honours marks (UG).

Verification of all original documents will be made and only after document verification, she/he will be recommended for admission. If any short-listed candidate fails to produce her/his all original documents at the counseling table, her/his candidature will be automatically cancelled.

Sidho Kanho Birsha University is a state university established in 2010 and situated in Purulia, West Bengal, India. Tapati Mukherjee has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of the University. The focus of the University would be to promote and protect indigenous culture and language, and especially the Santali language. Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University began its nascent but promising journey as an academic institution of higher learning from the day it was created as a state University in 2010. Since then it has been a chronicle of consistent effort and ascendant drive to keep alive the dynamics of academic flourish. Currently the university is on the throes of novelty of vision and constitutive endeavours to script a new dimension in the annals of higher education.

The Post-Graduate Departments of the university started functioning from the session 2011-12 with total number of twelve academic Departments (Bengali, English, Sanskrit, Santali, History, Pol. Science, Philosophy, Education, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Commerce). Over the years in an expansive and forward looking drive, we have enhanced the number into seventeen Departments with the introduction of five new departments (e.g. Economics, Sociology, Tribal Studies, Geography & Zoology) many of which are situated in the frontier areas of Science and Social Sciences. We are proud to initiate the Department of Tribal Studies to fulfill the mandate of the University which is situated in the remotest part of the State but having a vibrant social history and indigenous culture. We are soon going to open the Department of Performing Arts and introduction of such wings would provide a greater dimension in our efforts for growth and further development. The University is proud to have highly qualified faculty members, motivated students and adequate supporting and administrative officers and staff in order to absorb the forces of modernization and globalization in the field of Higher Education. Sidho Kanho Birsha University (SKBU), Purulia aspires to be a premier center for advanced knowledge and top quality research. As a university located in Purulia, it strives to emulate global standards in the domain of higher education and intellectual knowhow. In today`s times, owing to technological access and communicational facilities, it is always possible to keep in touch with the rest of the global academia and therefore, SKBU as an institution of advanced learning and research has got its root firmly planted in the advancement of local knowledge and aspiring at the same to time to elevate its academic credentials in the global educational map. It is situated in a place which has been known as a remote and backward region, but since its inception, SKBU has succeeded in instilling a rippling effect of hope and acceleration in the surroundings. As a university it has acquired the faith of the people and it has generated the required momentum of advancement and thirst for higher education.
