Applications are invited for admission to the following Post Graduate & other Courses and M.Phil. Programmes for the academic session 2018-19.

The candidates will fill up the Application Form only through online portal (www.onlineadmission.vidyasagar.ac.in).
After successful completion of all the steps (e.g. filling up the personal details, academic details, uploading photo and signature), the candidate will pay Rs. 250/-(Rupees Two hundred fifty) only for Post Graduate & other Courses and Rs. 350/- (Rupees Three hundred fifty) only for M.Phil. Programmes through online mode of payment (credit/debit card, net banking etc) only.

The students of V.U & autonomous college(s) affiliated to Vidyasagar University/Other university are eligible to fill up forms for admission to Post-graduate and other courses with their marks obtained in B.A. (Hons.) / B.Sc. (Hons.) / B.Com. (Hons.) Part-I & Part-II examinations (Total Hons Marks of Part-I & II). However, they have to produce the original mark sheets of final examinations (Part-III) at the time of counseling-cum-admission.

  • +/- Procedure for Application
    The candidates will fill up the Application Form only through online portal (http://onlineadmission.vidyasagar.ac.in). However, they have to produce the original mark sheets of final examinations (Part-III) at the time of counseling-cum-admission.

    Following documents have to be brought by the candidate during counseling:
    • Print out the online filled up application form to be submitted at the time of counselling
    • Self attested photo copies of all the Mark sheets of Examination passed (10th onword), University Registration Certificate and a copy of the Passport Size coloured photograph affixed on the box of the Form.
    • Self attested photo copy of the Admit Card / Certificate of H.S. or equivalent / Madhyamik as evidence of the date of birth.
    • Self attested photo copy of SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / Persons with Disability (PwD) certificate issued by the appropriate authority, if claimed quota.
    • Self attested photo copies of the Certificate of Games & Sports / Cultural Competition (International / National / State in the last two years), if claimed quota.
    • Self attested photo copy of the BPL Certificate of the parents issued by the appropriate authority, if claimed for concession of tuition fees.
    • Migration Certificate (for other university candidates only) must be submitted within two months from the date of admission.
    N.B.:
    • Application form, if not properly filled in and accompanied with attested copies of the documents as stated above, is liable to be cancelled.
    • All candidates are required to produce all original Certificates, Mark Sheets and testimonials for verification at the time of Counselling and admission. Candidate or his/her authorised person is to be present at the time of Counselling.
    • If at any stage, it is found that a candidate has concealed, suppressed or distorted any information/fact, in their application form, his/her admission to the university, if granted, shall stand cancelled.

    The students passed out in the year 2017 and 2018 are only eligible for admission to PG & other courses for the academic session 2018-19.

Selection will be made through Entrance Test like JEMAT, MAT, CAT or university own test (VUMAT) followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

  • +/- Selection Process for Admission
    • For the students of Vidyasagar University(60% seat)
      • Selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit of Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by V.U. In the case of equal marks obtained in CET, total marks / percentage of marks of Honours is to be taken into account for ranking. In case of equal marks obtained in Honours immediately preceding Examination are to be considered for ranking.
      • As per order of the Govt. of West Bengal 60% of total seats in each subject will be reserved for the students of V.U & autonomous college(s) affiliated to Vidyasagar University and 40% seats will be available for Open to all.
      • The 60% of total seats in each subject will be reserved for passed out Honours students of VU & autonomous college(s) affiliated to Vidyasagar University, which will be selected from the merit list of CET and the candidates have to obtain Hons marks or equivalent in the major subject.
      • Quota for SC/ ST will be considered as per Govt. order 906 Edn / Estt dated 18.09.1997. Number of seats (SC-22%, ST-6%, OBC-A-10%, OBC-B-7%) will be calculated and considered separately for 60% seats of V.U. students and 40% seats for Open Competition. Fraction of 0.5% or more will be rounded to the next whole number.
      • 3% of each category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B) will be reserved for Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates. Merit list will be prepared on the percentage of PwD. In case of non-availability of PwD candidate, the seat reserved for PwD will be converted to General Category.
      • Prize holders at International/National/State representation in the last two years will be considered for sports quota provided that he/she participated in the Inter College Competition/ Inter College Athletic Meet organized by our university in his/her tenure in UG level. The sports events are Football, Volleyball, Athletic, Joga, Khoko, Kabadi, Chess, Table Tennis. A committee will be constituted to assess the performance of the applicants in the respective field.
      • Prize holders in the International/National/State meet in the last two years will be considered for Cultural quota provided that he/she participated in the Inter College Cultural Competition organized by our university in his/her tenure in UG level. A committee will be constituted to assess the performance of the applicants in the respective field.
      • 1% of total seats of all PG courses is reserved for Sports/ Culture.
      • The seats for General candidates in the subject will be reduced by the No. of students selected for Sports/ Culture quota in that subject.
      • Normally 60% seats will be for the students of the Vidyasagar University and 40% seats for other Open to all. This 60% and 40% may be relaxed in case of non-availability of the applicants in either category.
    • For Open Competition (40%)
      • 40% Seats in each subject are reserved for Open to all (students of V.U & autonomous college(s) affiliated to Vidyasagar University/Other universities), which will be selected from the merit list of CET.
      • The minimum marks required for admission through Open Competition (40% seat) is as follows:
        Arts & Commerce 45% marks in Hons. (for Gen. Candidates)
        40% marks in Hons. (for SC / ST./PwD /OBC-A/OBC-B Candidates)
        Science 50% marks in Hons. (for Gen. Candidates)
        45% marks in Hons. (for SC / ST/PwD/OBC-A/OBC-B Candidates)
    • Questions will be MCQ pattern; Full Marks- 50; Total no. of Questions- 50, Time- One hour.
    • Questions will be set in English, except in Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit and Santali.
    • Counseling will be held for 60% seats first and then counseling for 40% seats. The counseling will be held in the concerned department. The teachers of the concerned departments will be present at the time of counseling.
    • The colleges under Vidyasagar University will follow the Rules and Regulations regarding admission to PG courses framed by Vidyasagar University and Government of West Bengal.
    • Written Admission Test and Counselling in the affiliated colleges will be held after the Written Admission Test & Counselling in our university.
    • The admission will be cancelled if a student remains absent from classes for consecutive ten days from the date of admission without any intimation to the concerned Head / Secretary, faculty Councils for PG Studies.
    • Application form for Diploma Course in Office Automation and Internet Technologies is available only from Computer Centre, VU.

    • B.Lib.I.Sc.:
      • In case of non-availability of students of SC category, the seat reserved for SC will be converted to ST category and vice-versa.
      • In case of non-availability of M.Com / B.Com (Hons) Students, the seat will be filled up by M.A. / B.A. (Hons) General category respectively.
      • In case of non-availability of M.A., the seat will be filled up from the List of B.A. (Hons.) and in case of non-availability of M.Sc., the seat will be filled up from the List of B.Sc.(Hons.).
      • Out of two seats reserved for deputed candidates, one candidate from M.A (V.U) and one from M.Sc. (OC) will be admitted.
      • In case of non-availability of PwD, the seat will be filled up by M.A. General Category candidate.
      • If any candidate is selected under sports/ cultural quota, he /she will be admitted under General category (60% seats) and the No. of seat(s) will be decreased accordingly.
    • M.Lib.I.Sc.:
      • In case of non-availability of deputed candidate, one the seat will be filled up from the list of ST category (60%) and one from the list of PwD category (60%)
      • If no ST or PwD candidate is available, the seats will be filled up from General category candidate of 60% seats.

    • 55% marks for General candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD category at PG level.
    • 60% of total seats are reserved for the students of Vidyasagar University & autonomous college(s) affiliated to V.U and the rest 40% seats are reserved for the students of other universities.
    • The admission test shall be of 50 marks. The content and form of admission test shall be determined by the concerned M. Phil. committee. The admission test shall be conducted according to the academic calendar. The candidates obtaining 50% marks at the written test shall be qualified. The qualified candidates have to appear for the interview to be conducted by the concerned M.Phil. committee. The interview shall be held for 25 marks and the merit list shall be prepared taking into consideration only the scores at the interview.
    • Candidates qualified at the NET/GATE/SET/UGC (JRF)/CSIR (JRF) or any other examination that considered equivalent by the BRS shall also be exempted from appearing the Written Admission test and will have to appear at the interview.
    • The students appearing at the final semester examination of post graduate course shall be eligible to sit for entrance examination.
  • +/- Additional Important Information
    • Applicants are to follow the notices all the time. No intimation of any kind will be sent to the individual at any stage.
    • Counseling and admission will be held on same day. On the date of Counselling the students /Parents/Guardians have to produce the original Certificates/testimonials for verification. Date and time will be notified at the bottom of the Merit Lists.
    • After the admission, the vacancy, if any, will be filled up from the Merit List through counselling. Date, time and venue will be notified later on the University website.
    • Admission to PG and other courses will be closed on the 15th effective teaching day with effect from the date if commencement of classes.
    • If any student remains absent from the classes for 10 (ten) consecutive teaching days without valid reasons and without prior intimation to the respective Head of the Department or the Secretary, Faculty Councils for PG. Studies his/her admission will be treated as cancelled and the vacancy will be filled up from the Merit Listed candidates on merit. From the date of commencement of classes absence is counted.
    • The admitted students are to attend at least 75% of the total classes held in all Semesters; otherwise, he/she will not be allowed to fill up his/her form for examination.
    • The students of other universities who will get admitted have to submit the ‘Migration Certificate’ within two months from the date of admission, otherwise he / she will not be allowed to appear at the final examination of the Semester-I.
    • For admission to different courses, an SC or ST candidate getting admission should have marks in the Common Entrance Test not lower by 25% of the marks obtained by the last candidate of the General Category. In case of OBC-A and OBC-B the candidates getting admission should have obtained marks in the Common Entrance Test not lower by 10% of marks obtained by the last candidate of the General category. In any case, if a candidate obtained marks lower than the minimum qualifying marks prescribed by the university / appropriate authority for admission to the relevant courses, he/she will not be eligible for admission.
    • Two seats under Supernumerary Quota will be made available to the students of Jammu & Kashmir who seek admission.
    • The student will not indulge in any act ragging. If he/she is found guilty of any aspect of ragging, he/she will be punished as per provisions of the UGC regulations and/or as per law in force.
    • Hostel Accommodation: There are three Hostels – one for Boys and two for Girls- in the University campus. Boys’ Hostel and Girls’ Hostels accommodate 186 students and 240 students respectively. Hostel accommodation is provided to the selected students depending on the distance between their place of residence and Vidyasagar University. Preference is given to the students coming from other State or remote places .Admitted students soon after admission may apply to the Dean, Students’ Welfare for the accommodation of Hostel.
