B.Ed Syllabus (Effective from the academic session 2006-2007)

The total intake is of 100 students per year. All the seats is filled as per merit list prepared by the central selection committee of the University. Intending candidates are to apply by way of filling in forms obtainable from the University. Deputed candidate are selected on the basis of experience and academic qualification. Fresher candidate are selected on calculation of grade marks on the basis of their qualification.

Eligibility

For one year B Ed under Vidyasagar University: Candidates with at least 50% marks in bachelor's/master's degree and with two school subjects at the graduation/post graduation level are eligible for admission.

Vidyasagar teachers' training college, named after Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, the most illustrious son of the district of Midnapore, now Paschim Medinipur, is situated in the hert of the Midnapore town. To know its establishment we have to go back to the year 1967, when the ex-students of Midnapore College in their annual reunion visualized the necessity of improving the art of teaching. Through a training college and few training department in the general colleges, where imparting training to the teachers and would be teachers of the junior-high-higher secondary schools of then undivided district, none cared for the training of science teacher. So the said ex-students felt the need of establishment of a training college, which would specially impart training to the science teachers. They set up steering committee with the then District Magistrate as its Chairman, the Principal Secretary, Midnapore College as its Convener Secretary, a few ex-students of Midnapore College, a few elites educationist of the town as its members. With their concerning power of discussion combind with untiring efforts, the college began its career from the 1st July, 1968 with the sanction of affiliation in Arts and Science (Co-educational) by the University of Calcutta.

From the 1st June 1985, the college is affiliated with the Vidyasagar University with the same Arts and Science subjects. Since its inception, the college is significantly engaged in training the teachers and would be teachers and has become one of the renowned training colleges in West Bengal. Though it had Physics laboratory and Chemistry laboratory in the beginning, the authorities for the sake of modern and quality training. So the Life-Science Laboratory, Computer Laboratory, Educational Technology Laboratory, Psychology Laboratory and Work-Experience Laboratory have been set up too add with the two laboratories mentioned above. More over, with the sincere effort of the teaching staff including librarian and the co-operation of the Non-Teaching Staff and students, the college has been maintaining the record percentage of passing in the B. Ed. Examination of Vidyasagar University………….. all most every year the first or the second or both positions count to the credit of this college.

"Development" is a never-ending process. Keeping this in mind, the management of the college with its limited means and with the help of U.G.C., State Government and benevolent persons, is engaged in its developmental works to serve the society in the better possible way.
