Eligibility (For P G Course):
A candidate should possess a B.A. Degree with Hindi as optional subject with 50% of marks in the subject and in aggregate obtained from any recognized university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST and Cat-I candidates). B.P.Ed. REGULAR COURSE

  • Any graduate of Karnataka State Women`s University or any other university considered as equivalent there to who is physically fit and satisfy any of the following conditions will be eligible for admission to B.P.Ed. Degree course.
    • Graduate with Physical Education as a major subject with 45 % marks.
      OR
    • Graduate in Physical Education (i.e. B.P.E, of three year duration) with 45 % marks.
      OR
    • Any Graduate with at least 40 % marks having represented the State/ University in sports/ games/ Athletes.
      OR
    • Any Graduate with at least 45 % marks, who has represented the institution in inter-collegiate sports/games tournaments and CPEd./DPEd/1 Year NIS Diploma course NCC ‘C’ Certificate with any degree.
  • Candidates seeking admission to B.P.Ed. degree course shall be below 30 years of age as on 1st July of the year of admission. The age is relaxable up to 35 years for outstanding sportspersons. Outstanding sportspersons’ means a candidate who has participated in recognized State, National,Inter-University/Inter-State/International Sports/games competitions.
  • For Deputed/In Service candidates (trained Physical education teachers and Coaches) the age is relaxable up to 45 years, subject to the condition that they are medically fit and shall pass the prescribed physical fitness tests.
  • All candidates shall produce a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Government Medical Officer. The eligibility criteria stand modified as and when NCTE/University Changes/modified the eligibility criteria for B.P.Ed. Course.

M.P.Ed REGULAR COURSE

  • Graduate in any subject with B.P.Ed.Degree securing 50 percent of marks. OR
  • Graduate in Physical Education i.e. B.P.E. Degree of Three years Course, securing 50 percent of marks.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

The Candidates shall be selected on the basis of merit. Merit shall be determined on the basis of candidate’s performance in the qualifying examination besides
representation and achievement in sports .the Weight age will be as follows :

  • 60% marks obtained in the qualifying examination and
  • Marks for representation and achievement in sports and games

M.Phil Course

  • Minimum Eligibility Requirements to pursue M Phil
    • A candidate who has obtained a Master’s Degree in the concerned or cognate subject from this University or any other University in the state or from any other University/Institution recognized as equivalent there to securing not less than 55% marks in the aggregate at the Master’s Degree Course as a whole shall be eligible to apply for the M Phil degree program. However, in the case of SC/ST and Category-I candidates the minimum marks required shall be 50%.
    • Such of the teachers employed in affiliated colleges before 31.03.1992 and are continuing in service on a regular basis and are desirous of applying for the M Phil programme on deputation only or on FIP shall be permitted for registration having a minimum of 50% of marks at the Master’s Degree Course.
    • A candidate who is eligible as indicated below and who has passed GATE/JRF or belongs to FIP/QIP programmes are also eligible subject to section 7 of this regulation. Ph.D Course Minimum Eligibility Requirements to pursue Ph D
      • A candidate who has obtained a Master’s Degree in the concerned or cognate subject from this University or any other University in the state or from any other University/ Institution recognized as equivalent there to securing not less than 55% marks in the aggregate at the Master’s Degree Course as a whole shall be eligible to register for the Ph.D degree programme. However, in the case of SC/ST and Category-I candidates the minimum marks required shall be 50%.
      • Such of the teachers employed in affiliated colleges before 31.03.1992 and are continuing in service on a regular basis and are desirous of registering for the Ph.D. programme shall be permitted for registration having a minimum of 50% of marks at the Master’s Degree Course.

Library

The Central Library facility is available at Janashakati campus and a separate and Independent Library building is constructed with 10298.62Sq mtr at new campus. The library opens from 9.00 AM to 7.00 PM on all working days and from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM on all Sundays and general holidays. The library is equipped with rich collection of books, periodicals, including e-resources. It also has many books on competitive examinations and career development for ready reference. The library data collection and service have been automated using library software package LIBSYS. The library subscribes e-journals and provides internet facilities. The main library in the city campus provides OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility to its users. An inventory of the books available in the library (Book catalogue) is made available in all the departments. Limited number of books is given for one complete running semester to the SC/ST students. A digital library is established in the Jnanashakti campus. UGC-Infonet facilities for accessing online databases and facilities to view A-VIEW are available in Jnanashakti campus.

Computer and Internet Facility

Departments are equipped with full-edged Computer Laboratories with internet facility. A central computer facility with internet connectivity is available for students in the Jnananshakti campus.

Language Laboratory

The language teaching programme includes vocabulary, syntax, and grammer, phonetics, and communication skills. The language laboratory is well established with 20 computers and required furniture and latest software. Highly useful software's are installed. Every day training is given to the students who wish to learn English. The laboratory teaching motivates students to speak and improve their oral/aural abilities and make self assessment. The language lab is giving useful knowledge to the students of the university through the latest technology. Today's educational climate is increasingly diverse. Art has long been seen as a visual language. The language lab plays a key role to learn the foreign language in a happy atmosphere and in a successful way. Both the teacher and the students' inputs are very important in this kind of learning activity. The efforts of the both make the above points victorious. The well planned contents and practice help the learners learn the language very quickly. The language lab is believed a self learning accessory. It helps students to learn the English language accurately with prociency. It is concluded that the language lab is the solution and need of the hour to learn the English language effectively. The quality of the language prociency will be more when they learn it from the multimedia, digital and computerized Language Lab.

Publication Division (PRASARANGA)

Prasaranga- Publication Division of the university has started its function from 29-1-2012. Prasaranga has published 12 books under the UGC publication grant. Prasaranga is also published 34 volumes under Kannada Language Development Project, sponsored by Government of Karnataka. Prasaranga is organizing Extension Lectures in the remote villages and afliated colleges and publishing small books.

Jnanavahini Media Studio

A state-of-the-art 'Jnanavahini' Media Centre has been established in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at University's Jnanashakti Campus. The Media Center is well-equipped for shooting and editing television and Radio programmes besides generating audio-video educational aids. There are two cameras exclusively for shooting inside the studio and two cameras for outdoor shooting. The Media Center has Tri Caster-make mixer which can take inputs from eight cameras and generate hundreds of virtual sets for presentation of news and discussion programmes. The audio mixer has provision for 24 input channels. A large television studio, a post-production Control Room, lm editing and remixing facilities, a radio studio and a large facility for audio-visual production based on still photography, it becomes a resource centre to be met with imagination and talent.

Fitness Center

A well- equipped health tness center with qualied instructor is established in the University campus and opens from 6.30 am to 8.30am in the morning and from 4.30 to 6.30 pm in the evening for the use of all students. The center is equipped with eight station multi-gym, manual tread mill, motorized heavy duty tread mill, magnetic bike, magnetic cycle, competition Olympian barbell set, chrome dumbbells, etc.

Health Center

Health center is shifted to new building and is well equipped with all basic facilities, from rst aid to emergency treatment. Health center works from morning 10am to 5.30 pm with one health assistant and attendar and medical doctor halts on the campus health center from 7pm to 6am in the morning along with a para- medical staff. It provides free medical treatment to the students and staff members. The ambulance facility is also available in the Health Center.

Hostels

Total 5 hostels with spacious dining hall, prayer hall and modern recreation centre is established in Jnanashakti campus managed by experienced and resident lady wardens with requisite infrastructure and round the clock security & accommodating 700 students.

One minority hostel is constructed purely for minority students, and this hostel facility will be provided from this academic year.

Students are advised to submit their applications in the prescribed format for admission to hostels to the Chief Warden immediately after the Counseling for P.G. admissions along with relevant documents which are duly certificated Chairperson. Students seeking admissions to BCM and SC/ST hostels are also advised to contact SC/ST cell.

Canteen

Canteen facility is available in Jnanashakthi campus providing tea, coffee, snacks and wholesome food at affordable prices.

Transport

The University has its own facility of buses for to and fro hostels, city campus and Jnanashakthi campuses. KSRTC bus facility is also available for students and general public. Buses run from different parts of the city to Jnanashakthi campus regularly. The Directorate of Students Welfare coordinates the transport facility. Students are advised to contact Students' Welfare Office for monthly passes for KSRTC buses and University Omni buses immediately after their Counseling for PG admissions.

Karnataka State Women's University, established in 2003 in the city of Vijayapur is the only Women's University in Karnataka dedicated exclusively for women's education. It is recognized under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. Seventy women's colleges spread in twelve districts of North-Karnataka are affiliated to this University. The University offers various UG programmes leading to Bachelor's degree in Arts, Business Administration, Computer Applications, Commerce, Education, Fashion Technology, Home Science, Physical Education, Science and Social Work. It also offers 20 P G Courses, P G Diploma and Certificate Courses in the Faculties of Arts, Commerce and Management, Social Sciences, Science and Technology and Education.

It is recognized under DEC for Distance Education across India and abroad. The university is dedicated to promote excellence through academic achievement, research, creativity, innovation, interaction and collaboration, personality development and leadership qualities.
