Admission Procedure

Application forms are made available for purchase in the College Office. Students who desire to apply for a seat in the Two-Year PUC must purchase the application form and the prospectus which contains all the instructional details about the course and procedure of admission. (No forms will be sent through post by the College Office).

The form must be filled completely and then registered in the College Office by payment of a registration fee in cash within 2 days of the announcement of the SSLC results by the Karnataka Board. Students need not wait for the Original Marks Card to apply for admission.

Notices regarding the procedure of admission and the documents required will be put on the notice board outside the College Office at the time of admission.

The candidates are discouraged from approaching a third person and producing recommendation letters to obtain admission. Please be alert to those persons who promise admission and demand money from you. Please inform the Principal about such matters.

Candidates whose family income is less than ` 1,00,000/- per annum will make the full payment of fees at the time of admission and if they wish to avail of fee concession for the year they will apply for the same as per the Government order. The details will be put up on the Notice Board.

Concessions on fee are made for SC/ST students on producing an attested caste certificate.)

Well-maintained laboratories are made available for practical classes of subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Psychology Computer Science and Electronics.

Faith Formation

As a Minority institution managed by the sisters of the Apostolic Carmel, St. Agnes Pre-University College derives strength from God and is guided by the constitutional liberty given to thought, expression, belief, faith and worship in India. The Sisters who are on the staff, by living up to a life of consecration and sustaining standards of competence, become for their collaborators a source of enrichment.

Every catholic student, through the regular programmes conducted, seeks the nurturing of her faith in Christ and deepening of her life in the Church.

Value Education

An Integral part of Education in St. Agnes Pre-University College is to provide the student with the impetus of a sound value system that is essential for their growth. Trained personnel are invited to guide the students in the areas of personality Development, Career Guidance, Family Life, AIDS Awareness, Communal Harmony, Social Concern, etc. The services of a student counsellor is made available to those students who wish to avail of the same.

Academics

Academic Excellence is one of the primary objectives in our institution. In the Results of the II PUC Final Examinations, our College always ranks among the top colleges of Dakshina Kannada. An Academic Improvement Committee monitors the progress of students and effects various strategies to give proper guidance depending on individual capabilities of students. Learning is not confined to the classroom as experiential learning is encouraged.

To prepare the students to gain entry into Professional Colleges, CET, NEET and CPT classes are conducted in the College. The College organizes Short-term computer courses in MS-Word and MS-Excel (for interested students).

Extra-Curricular Activities

While students are given opportunities to showcase their talents and improve upon them, we emphasize on the need to preserve the culture and heritage of our country and organize programmes that aid in improving the quality of life.

Sports and Games

“Games” is part of the syllabus and St. Agnes PU College has proved its mettle in various sports events and games.

Social Concern

Many financially weak students are helped with their fees, bus passes and mid-day meals and sometimes medical expenses. Students are encouraged to help other in times of need. Meritorious students who are economically backward are provided with student aid. Equality of status and opportunity, we believe, is a right of every individual.

The Clubs

The Echo Club ‘Srishti’ seeks to enhance awareness about the need to conserve and manage our rich flora and fauna.

The social club ‘Aastha’ reinforces the need to make the students responsive to the socio-economic realities around them.

The ‘Oratio’ Club aspires to make the students more articulate and enhance their self-confidence.

PTA

The parents/guardians have the responsibility to attend the Annual General Body Meeting of PTA. However only Parents have the active voice to be elected as members of the Executive Committee of the PTA.

  • Prize money scholarship to minority students from the Dept. of Minorities (income limit `2,00,000).

St. Agnes Pre-University College was bifurcated from St. Agnes First Grade College in the year 2001-2002. It has been providing integral and value-based education to women students of all castes and creeds without distinction. This minority institution aims at fulfilling the vision of our forefathers enshrined in the Preamble to the Constitution of India.

St. Agnes College (composite), Mangaluru, India, a Minority Institution founded by Mother Aloysia, the Second Superior General of the Congregation of the Apostolic Carmel in 1920, is managed by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel.

The Management, The Teaching Staff, The Support Staff, The Students and the Parents work in collaboration to effectively carry out the mission of the College and the objectives spelt out. The College holds itself responsible to maintain cordial and beneficial relations with the PUE Board, The Government, Non-Governmental Organisations and other Educational Institutions in order to extend its Mission and mutually share the fruits of education. The PU Department has graded the college in ‘A’ Category.
