Annie Besant Hostel is one of the oldest hostels of University Constituent Colleges. It has a glorious history of 67 years with its inauguration done by the then Governor of Rajasthan. Mother Teresa Hostel came into existence much later as an extension to Annie Besant Hostel due to the increasing number of applicants. Mother Teresa Hostel was inaugurated by the then Governor of Rajasthan, His Excellency Shree Anshuman Singh with Prof. K.L. Kamal, Vice- Chancellor, University of Rajasthan on 22/02/2001.
College Library
The College library is one of the oldest Library of Jaipur City. It was established in the year 1945. It is located in the centre-west of the College. Today the total numbers of books are around one lakhs twenty thousand books.
It is rich with the oldest as well as latest encyclopedias of various subjects. Besides, it is also consists biographies and autobiographies of great leaders, thinker, academicians, philosophers, thinkers, scientists, social scientists, economists etc. The library has complete volumes of Swami Vivekananda; Rabindra Nath Tagore; The Rig Veda; International encyclopedia of the Social Science; Economy Survey; Cassell's encyclopedia of Literature etc. There are number of rare books in the library which are of general as well as subject specific nature. It also comprises a large number of various journals and magazines covering almost all the subjects and issues.

It is with this motto that Maharani College embarked on its journey of providing opportunities for higher education to girls. The University Maharani College stands apart as an epitome of foresightedness of its founders, hard work of its staff and has paved the way for women’s education in the feudal state of Rajasthan. The college has grown leaps and bounds ever since its inception. Established on 1st August 1944 with only 11 girls and 3 teachers in Madho Vilas under the patronage of the royal family especially Maharani Gayatri Devi, and called Intermediate College for Women, it has witnessed a meteoric rise and reached its present strength of more than 8000 students. Today it is Asia’s largest multi faculty college.
The Founder Principal Smt. Savitri Bhartiya, instilled in the students and staff, a deep sense of responsibility and enthusiasm which continues even today. On 12th August 1947 it moved to its present premises and was rechristened ‘Maharani College’. Maharani College became a part of the University as a constituent college in the year 1962.
The college stands as a testimonial to the visits of stalwarts like Dr Zakir Hussain, Dr S Radhakrishnan, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Shri Jai Narain Vyas, Shri Mohan Lal Sukhadia, Smt Vijay Laxmi Pundit, Shri Bhairon Singh Sekhawat, Prof Yashpal, Justice Ved Pal Tyagi, Shri Satish Chandra, Smt Madhuri Shah, Prof Arun Nigvekar, Smt Pratibha Patil, Smt. Vasundhara Raje, and Shri Ashok Gehlot. Besides, other illustrious dignitaries like Prithvi Raj Kapoor, Kapila Vatsayan, Sitara Devi, Pt Ravi Shankar, Pt Jasraj, Pt Hari Prasad Choursia, Begum Praveen Sultana, Aruna Roy, and many more.
