Eligibility Criteria

Library Services

OPAC- is meant for searching the library catalogues. Readers can search any of the books or journals available in the library.

Digital library Readers can search the different collections available in digitalised format.

Reference Services- a separate section is maintained for reference .Costly and multiple copied books are available in this section

Reprographic Services- reprographic facility is available in the library; users can take the photocopies of the reference books and journals from this section.

Internet Lab- well furnished internet lab is available in library; for student’s for on-line e-journal reading, book searching and knowledge sharing process.

Computer Labs

The MCA Department has fully furnished Computer Labs for the smooth conduct of its practical classes . The rules and regulations of the Computer Labs are as follows:-

• »  All members of staff and students of the Institution can avail of the facilities in the computer lab.
• »  The computer lab will be opened from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM.
• »  Students are to sign in the Lab Gate Register.
• »  No students can avail the lab while class sessions are in progress.
• »  Students are expected to maintain decorum in the lab. Any misdemeanor will attract punishment.
• »  If any machines/accessories are damaged due to any misdemeanor of the student he/she will be charged a fine for the same. The fine will be decided by the Director in consultation with faculty in charge of the computer lab. If the person accountable cannot be found, a common fine will be charged.
• »  All students are expected to remove their footwear before they enter the lab.
• »  During working hours all are expected to wear formal dress as instructed in the campus.
• »  No students can use their floppy / CD / USB Drive without the permission of the Lab in-charge.
• »  A student leaving the institution before or after completing his/her course will have to get a no liability certificate from the Lab in charge for getting any certificate from the Institution.
• »  All other college rules also are applicable in the lab.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel for boys and girls with excellent amenities have been provided inside the college campus. The men’s hostel can accommodate 100 inmates and the ladies` hostel can accommodate 200 inmates. Caring wardens and tight security ensure a pleasant stay, allowing students to focus on their studies. Each hostel provides the Wi-Fi facilities.

RECREATION FACILITIES
Limited indoor games facilities provided and one newspaper is made available for each hostel.

FOOD

• »  Canteen contractor will supply food either in the canteen or in the hostel at the rate agreed from time to time
• »  Reduction in the daily rate shall be allowed in cases where mess coupon signed by the warden is presented to the canteen contractor at least 24 hours in advance.
• »  Reduction @50% in food charges shall be allowed only for absence of 3 to 5 days and @100% in case of 5 or more days, during declared holidays only, no reduction, is allowed for absence up to 2 days and absence other than declared holidays. For getting reduction hostel students should submit a written intimation to the canteen contractor after getting it countersigned by the warden.

Canteen Facilities

The cafeteria is open throughout the semester except for holiday periods. Holidays will be announced from time to time.

The institution offers post graduate courses in MBA, MCA and Engineering degree course under Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and approved by AICTE and is ISO 9001-2008 certified. Specializations in Marketing, Finance and Human Resource are being offered in the second year of the MBA course. In Engineering, 5 streams namely Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering is offered. Apart from this, the college offers add on programs taking into account today’s context. The campus is situated on 12 acres of land. It is a Wi-Fi campus with 400 computers and modern computer labs housing state-of-the-art technology. The mail server of SNGIST is now hosted by Google. The eco-friendly campus provides opportunities to students to engage in various sports like basketball, volleyball and shuttle badminton.

The Library at SNGIST is an outstanding learning resource center catering to information requirements of students. The library has more than 20000 volumes of text books and over 130 journals/magazines and access to over 1600 e-journals. In addition, e-learning facilities are also there. SNGIST’s unique teaching methodology makes students more competent. It will assist graduating students in securing positions in reputed national and multinational companies. In addition to the individual counseling, students will be trained in group discussion skills, interview skills drafting job applications, providing up to date employment trends, career information etc. so that the students will face the placement interview with utmost confidence.
