Criteria for Honours Programme Criteria for General Programme
At least 50 % marks in aggregate in H.S or Equivalent Examination with at least 45 % marks in the subject /related subject (*) opted for Honours Programme.
OR
At least 55 % marks in the subject / related subject (*) opted for the Honours Programme.
OR
50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subjects in her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.
Candidates must secure pass marks in aggregate in their respective 10+2 final Board Exams and in the subjects they opted for
For Reserved Candidates
40 % marks in aggregate or 40 % marks in subject or related subject in H.S or Equivalent Examination
Candidates must secure pass marks in aggregate in their respective 10+2 final Board Exams and the subjects she opted for.

Candidates of Economics Hons. have to take up Mathematics as one of the Generic Elective subjects.

Criteria for taking Subject(s) in General Programme or Electives of the Honours Subject

A candidate shall be allowed to take up the subject(s) in General Programme or as Electives of the Honours subject under heading “A” if he/she had passed the subject(s) under heading “B” at the previous qualifying examination:

Note

  • Aggregate: Summation of Marks in top 4 Subjects
  • Passing in English (full marks not less than 100) is mandatory
  • Marks in Compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. However, if the subject “Environmental Science” is studied as an Elective Subject of 100 Marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.
  • Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Vocational Examination conducted by West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training shall be eligible to seek admission to the B.A. (General) 1 st year course of studies taking the subjects under Humanities division only.
  • No candidate shall be allowed admission after a lapse of more than 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
  • Reservation policy for admission in three years (six-semesters) degree courses of studies shall be guided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission), Act, 2013 and the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules. 2014.
  • Relaxation in total marks will be provided to meritorious sportspersons :-
    5% in aggregate to State level position holders.
    10% in aggregate to participants in National Level.
