Delhi University - Guidelines Released for Open Book Exams for Under Graduation Students

Delhi University has recently released several guidelines for the conduction of open book exams for all final year students in undergraduate programmes.
  • Delhi University has recently released the guidelines for smooth conduction of Open Book Exams (OBE) for all their final year students who are currently enrolled in undergraduate programmes. The guidelines were released on May 30, 2020 through an official notice which was released on Delhi Universitys website.   • The conduction of OBE by the university is a onetime measure, which was is being adopted due to the spread of novel coronavirus in our country. Conduction of exams through conventional methods will put the health of the students at risk, so the students from first and second year will be passed on the bases of internal assessment and final year students will have to appear for OBEs.
  • Delhi University issued guidelines for the students who will be appearing for the exams from July 1, 2020. All students are required to read the below mentioned guidelines carefully.

Delhi University Exams 2020 : Important guidelines regarding Open Book Exams

  • Students need not rely on internet too much as OBE does not entirely require an online platform. Only limited access to the internet is required, while uploading the question papers before the exams and uploading answer sheets after the exams.
  • The tentative datesheet for all undergraduate courses has been released on the official website of Delhi University after considering suggestions from all stakeholders. The exams is set to begin from July 1, 2020 as per the datesheet.
  • Students who appear for the OBE this year and wish to improve their performance in the future will be given the chance to do so in the next year, according to the semester cycle in Delhi University.
  • All students should also ensure that their examination forms for the respective courses have already been filled.
  • The Admission Tickets shall be sent to the students by the college through e-mode.
  • The question papers of the OBE exams shall be accessed by the students from the designated portals as per the schedule or datesheet provided by the examination branch. The question paper can also be sent to the student via email or WhatsApp if they have any trouble downloading it through the portal.
  • Similarly in case, for any reason if the students are not able to upload their answer sheets on the portal, the same can be send in PDF format at the designated e-mail address of the college during the time specified. However, it may be noted that this option may be exercised only in case of an emergency.
  • The students shall answer the questions on plain papers of A4 size. Students should put page number on each paper.
  • The total duration of the OBE shall be of 3 hours of which 2 hours shall be given to the students for answering the questions and an additional hour shall be utilized for downloading the question papers and uploading the scanned images of answer sheets after completion of the examinations.

Delhi University Exams 2020 : Note to students

  • Delhi University has stated that the above mentioned guidelines are only applicable for those students who are in the final year of undergraduate programmes in the university. They have also asked students to only rely on information available on the official website of the university. Students may not rely on unauthentic sources.
  • Students are also advised to keep a regular check on the official website of Delhi University for any latest updates or information. Students may remain in touch with their respective colleges for any instructions or assistance required.
