ICSE [Indian Certificate of Secondary Education] Completely Cancels Exams for Classes 10th & 12th, Exams Not Optional for Class 12th Students Anymore
[Published on: 25.06.2020]

As per the decision on Thursday, ICSE has decided to complexly cancel the ICSE class 10 exams and the ISC class 12 exams even though it had decided to make the class 12 exams optional earlier.

  • ICSE has decided to cancel all the pending ICSE exams for class 10 and ISC exams for class 12 as per the latest Supreme Court hearing on Thursday, June 25. The ICSE exams are not optional for students anymore and no one can appear for them, the board clarified.
  • Even though CBSE said that the CBSE class 10 exams are completely cancelled while the CBSE Class 12 exams are optional which students may choose to appear in after the pandemic situation subsides, the matter is not the same with ICSE.
  • ICSE decided to do away with all confusion by cancelling all pending ICSE board exams for classes 10 and 12 for this year. The students will be assessed on the basis of their internal marks or that received in the pre-board exams.
  • The ICSE and ISC board exams were scheduled to be held from July 1 to July 12.

ICSE had made it optional earlier

  • ICSEs decision today scraps its earlier decision from June 15 to allow class 10 and class 12 students to appear for the ICSE board exam in an optional manner.
  • The decision had been made after a petition had been filed at the Bombay High Court calling for a cancellation of the ICSE exams across Maharashtra which has seen the highest number of Covid-19 cases in India.
  • The board had said at that time that all ICSE affiliated schools would have to contact their class 10 and class 12 students and note down whether they wanted to appear for the ICSE board exams or not which would need to be sent in by the school by June 22.
