University of Jammu Exams 2020 - MCQ Examinations to be Conducted for Final Semester Students

Announcement :

Jammu University has decided that the end term exams for final semester students will be held in an MCQ format for this year.
  • A mid the uncertainty regarding the final exams for college students in most of the universities across the country, the Jammu University has come to a decision. The university has announced that the end term exams for final semester students pursuing undergraduate courses will be held in an MCQ pattern. Students will be given OMR sheets to record their responses for this years examinations.
  • Since the end term examinations for 2nd, 4th and 6th semester students could not be held due to the nationwide lockdown, which was imposed in view of the coronavirus pandemic surrounding the country, the Jammu University issued a notification on their official website, stating how the students of each semester will be evaluated in their end term exams.
  • The official notification reads, The terminal examinations for undergraduate 6th semester will be held on the pattern of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) to be answered on OMR sheets by following all safety norms/ precautions, social distancing, staggered shifts etc. as soon as conditions are considered conductive.
  • The notice further states that the question papers shall be set from the course content delivered/syllabi completed (based on the report of the Nodal Principal of the Colleges) before the lockdown or during the lockdown.

No exams for first, second year students

  • Jammu University has also announced that the students in 2nd and 4th semester will not be appearing for their examinations this year. These students will be evaluated internally on the bases of assignments and projects issued by their course faculty.
  • According to the notification, 50 percent weightage in the final result will be given to internal evaluation and the other 50 percent will be given to the average marks the student scored in 1st and 3rd semester. The colleges have been asked to complete internal evaluation in the first 10 days of the start of classwork for the next semester.
  • The exams were supposed to be held in May as per the original academic calendar, but had to be postponed due to the imposition of the nationwide lockdown, in view of the spread of covid-19 in our nation. The exams will now be conducted whenever the conditions are favourable and there are significantly less health risks.
