Supreme Court [SC] Asks Defers AIIMS INI CET Exam

  • The Supreme Court on Friday postponed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) INI CET exam slated from next Wednesday to any time after expiry of a month.
  • "Considering that many of the candidates intending to appear in the exam are on Covid duty and in remote areas, we are of the opinion that June 16 date is arbitrary. We direct the exam to be postponed by one month. Needless to say, exam can be held anytime after the expiry of one month," a vacation Bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and Mukesh Rasikbhai Shah ruled.
  • The INI CET exam is conducted for graduate doctors for admissions to postgraduate MD, MS courses in leading government medical institutes in India, including AIIMS, PGI Chandigarh, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgradaute Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry and National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru.
  • STATE BOARDS: Also filed before the Supreme Court is another petition by over 6,000 parents from different states to cancel all state board Class XII examinations for the same reason for which it cancelled the Class XII examination of the CBSE, pointing out the state boards in Punjab, Andhra, Telangana, Assam and Tripura have not postponed the exams.
