GATE is a collaborative effort of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven IITs—namely, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee—under the guidance of the National Coordination Board (NCB) - GATE, which operates within the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
Candidates who qualify in GATE can seek admission to Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in relevant fields, often accompanied by potential financial support.
Exam Pattern:
GATE 2025 will be administered as a computer-based test (CBT) and will offer 30 test papers, all available in English. Candidates have the option to choose one or two test papers from the permitted combinations. The GATE score is valid for three years from the date when results are announced.

The GATE score is accepted by institutions backed by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and various government agencies. Moreover, several colleges and institutions utilize GATE scores for admission into postgraduate programs, even if MoE scholarships are not involved.
