  • +/- M.A. Public Administration
    Relevance of Public Administration has grown immensely since the inception of human civilization, its role has increased and changed from doer/provider to regulator of services in the present times. With the present and future perspective on demand-driven administrative processes in sight, a two – year master’s degree programme in Public Administration with a focus on Public Policy and Governance is being offered by the School of Liberal Studies, PDPU.

    The curriculum of this Masters Programme covers all cotemporary and conventional areas of Public Administration i.e. theories (traditional to contemporary), Indian administration, internal security, rural development, disaster management, social welfare & social accountability, Economic & Financial administration, Public enterprises, Non-profit administration etc. The course is supportive for students aspiring to chart out careers in globally competitive public and private sector, career planning for various social science research institutes and civil services. Those who desire to pursue higher studies may join research programmes in areas/disciplines such as Public Administration, Development Studies, Local Self-government, Rural Development, Urban Governance & Management, Public Policy, Development Politics, Law & Governance, Sociology, Political Science, etc.
  • +/- M.A. Political Science-International Relations
    The two-year Post Graduation degree in Political Science-International Relations focuses on imparting comprehensive knowledge on International Relations while blending it with vital aspects of Political Science. The curriculum is prepared in a manner to train students with the fast-changing developments at the global level, nurture orientations in strategic affairs, and expose students to new horizons in the field of global affairs.

    The programme offers specialization in the areas of diplomacy, national and global security, Energy Politics, Political Economy, Geopolitics, etc. With custom designed curriculum structure, along with internships and publication training, the course intends to prepare students to fit into the contemporary demands of the academic, administrative, corporate, diplomacy domains.
  • +/- M.A. English
    A two – year master’s degree programme in English, designed as per the model course curriculum of UGC prepared to challenge the creativity and imagination of students. The programme opens up an entire panorama of visual arts, theatre arts, science, psycho- analysis, philosophy and films with reference to English. PDPU infrastructure supports the unique pedagogy required to deliver such a programme.
  • +/- M.A. Psychology
    A two-year master’s degree programme in Psychology- Applied Psychology is aimed at imparting application aspects of psychological concepts across various aspects of work and life. Through this program students will develop an understanding of how psychological theories are applied to real world situations. The course will focus on applying psychological concepts, theories, and processes to the fields of health, business, society, spirituality, and education. Techniques to evaluate contemporary local and global issues and topics using an applied psychological Perspective will be integrated in the teaching pedagogy. Further the course will also focus on making the student more job ready in various areas at Individual, team and societal level. Societal development will be one of the significant focus area of this program which can be aligned easily with mission and vision of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. MA in Psychology will also facilitate the scope for the centres of excellence in specializations of psychology relating to specific sectors such as health, youth, disability and social justice, entrepreneurship and leadership; and for developing standardized psychological assessment procedures. Teaching pedagogy for this course includes lectures, workshop, field projects, guest talks, field visits, internships and practical lab work. In the final year Students also required to submit two dissertations. Students’ performance is evaluated through class assignments, mid –semester & end-semester exams, internships and dissertation are taken into account. This holistic approach to learning facilitates students in understanding the various theories and also to apply learnt concepts in the real-world situations.
The admission process for Master of Arts Programme for the batch of 2018-20 will be conducted under the direction of the Admission Committee constituted by the University for School of Liberal Studies headed by the Director – SLS.

Total Number of Seats for admission in each area is limited to 20.

Statutory Reservation: For candidate from Indian States & UT’s:
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) 7.5%
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) 15%
  • Physically Challenged will be provided 3% reservation in each category
  • The Applicant should apply on-line on SLS website. (Please visit SLS website www.sls.pdpu.ac.in for application procedure.)
  • Applicant can opt for (only one) subject/discipline from Public Administration/Political Science - International Relations /English/Psychology for pursuing the Master’s Programme.
  • For the purpose of registration, applicant shall be required to pay a sum of Rs. 500.00 through Internet Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card towards the Registration Fee.
  • The Application Fee is non-refundable and no correspondence on this subject will be entertained.
  • An applicantshall be required to upload the colour scan copies of requisite certificates and testimonials as specified in the Application Form.
  • The last date to apply online is 12.00 AM (Midnight) of 7th July 2018.
  • The applicant will carry the printout of the ‘Admit Card’ to the venue of examination, and get it signed by the invigilator in PDPU.
  • The applicants to all programmes under various reserved category must submit along with application form the attested photocopies of certificate for verification of reserved category issued by the competent authority. These certificates should be in English or with authorized English translation.
  • The last date for receiving the application form is 7th July 2018.
  • Applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from any recognized College/University in India.
  • The students expecting their qualifying degree result on/ before 31st August 2018 can also apply.
  • An entrance test followed by an interview will be conducted on 8th July 2018.
  • Entrance test consists of both objective and descriptive type of questions.
  • Entrance test shall be conducted on 8th July 2018 at 11:00 A.M. It will evaluate the applicant's competence in the areas of General Studies, English / Political Science -International Relations / Public Administration / Psychology, as per the preference in the application form.
  • The test will have 50 multiple-choice type questions to be answered in 60 minutes and Essay question-descriptive type in 30 minutes.
  • There is No Negative Marking in the Objective type Questions.
  • The first section of general studies section would be of 20 Marks containing 20 questions which are common for all the subjects.
  • The second section of subject specific questions would be of 30 Marks containing 30 questions for each offered discipline.
  • The third Section of Essays containing 25 Marks would be from the subject/areas of
    • Public Administration: Contemporary issues of Administration, Polity, Governance, Issues of National and International significance from administrative perspective, Public Policy and Administration.
    • Political Science - International Relations: Foreign Relation, Political Science, Politics and Issues of National and International significance from International Relations perspective.
    • English: Questions related to Literature in general.
    • Psychology: Applications of Psychological concepts in daily life/work.
  • Interview and Statement of Purpose
  • Written Test will be followed by an interview of 25 marks to assess the thematic understanding, clarity and communications skills of the candidates. The candidates should submit a statement of purpose in about 250 words explaining the purpose for pursuing the MA programme. The interview will be conducted in the post lunch session.

  • Merit Marks: Merit Marks shall be the summation of marks obtained in
    • Multiple Choice Test
    • Essay
    • Interview
  • Merit List shall be prepared in the descending order of merit marks.
  • Fee Structure & Payment Schedule: Total – A+B+C+D = Rs. 1,63,000/-
    * Each academic year is split in two semesters.
    * Charges for the Internships (if any) shall be levied on the basis of actual expenditure.
  • Hostel and Mess Facilities: (charges will be subject to upward revision for current intake.)
    • Hostel accommodation is available on first come first serve basis, subject to its availability.
    • To secure the hostel accommodation, following fees are required to be paid. These fees are non-refundable & subject to revision from time to time. Hostel Deposit (Refundable): 5,000/-
      Electricity charges would be levied (calculated) extra on actual consumption basis.
    • Mess Charges*: Rs. 41,500/- per year for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks as per canteen schedule. This is compulsory for candidates opting for hostel facility of the University.
    • For day scholarsRs. 27,500/- per year for breakfast, lunch and snacks as per the canteen schedule. (Monday to Friday)
    * The above-mentioned Hostel Fees / Mess Charges are to be paid through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University’, payable at Ahmedabad at the start of academic year.

  • Payment Schedule:
    • Payment for Securing Admission: The candidates who are offered admission can secure the admission only upon payment of the full fees of the first semester.
    • Payment of the remaining charges: The admitted students are required to pay the mess charges and energy charges for the first semester before the prescribed date.
    • Semester wise Payment: The admitted students are required to pay the fees of every semester one week before the commencement of the respective semester. In case of delay, penalty will be charged as per the prescribed rules of the School.
  • Modes of Payment:
    • Payment by Demand Draft: Fees may be paid by demand draft drawn in favour of “Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University,” payable at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
    • The said demand draft will be accepted by the Admission Office as per stipulated schedule
      • Payment through Institute Bank Account: Fees can be paid in the University Account at Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) A/C No. 09332151005094. (IFSC) Code: ORBC0100933,
      • Branch: Gandhinagar. Students are required to send fee payment receipt slip of the bank in scan copy to slsadmission@pdpu.ac.in before the last date.
    • Cash Payment: The University and its Schools do not accept cash payment.
