Programmes Offered for the Academic Session 2019-2020
Programmes Offered for the Academic Session 2019-2020 The University offers Master’s degrees in three schools presently- The School of Historical Studies, The School of Ecology and Environment Studies and the School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religions.

Masters Programme in the School of Historical Studies
-
→ The School offers an M.A degree that focuses on global and comparative history. It also offers internationally competitive programs in Asian and world history, Students in the School of Historical Studies will gain an incisive understanding of comparative and trans-regional history. They will also acquire knowledge of global history through a rigorous engagement in methodological and theoretical perspectives critical for multidisciplinary historical research.

Masters Programmes in the School of Ecology and Environment Studies

→ The School offers two-year MA and MSc degrees based on the student’s undergraduate degree. The course is designed for students coming from disparate backgrounds in social science, humanities, engineering, and natural sciences. They are required to complete a thesis at the end of the second year to obtain the degree. Students are required to be in residence at Rajgir for the duration of their Master’s Degree.

Masters Programme in the School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religion

→ The School will offer an M.A. Degree that focuses on academic studies of Buddhist and other religious traditions with a scholastic rigour. The School will look at Buddhist traditions in their wider socio-historical- cultural contexts. Apart from giving emphasis in Buddhism the School focuses on broad aspects like: Methodology and theory which establishes Religious Studies as discipline in it’s in own right.

School of Languages / Humanities

→ The School commences its operations with one year Post-Graduate Diploma Programmes in Japanese, Korean and Sanskrit, but it will gradually expand to include other programmes in Indian and foreign languages.

→ Before you proceed to fill the application form please ensure that you have read and understood the eligibility criteria for the PROGRAMME you are applying for.

→ Meeting the eligibility criteria is mandatory to get admission to Nalanda University.

→ Please select the Program you wish to seek admission to. Only ONE program can be selected per application form. If you wish to apply for more than one program, use separate application forms.

→ Please fill the application form only in ENGLISH, unless it is specified to write in any other language.

→ Application form needs to be completed. If any field/s do not apply to you, mark as N/A.

→ Please be careful in filling up the information in all aspects. Incomplete admission form will not be accepted.

→ Any error/misinformation in the application form shall result in cancellation of seat.

→ Candidate should fill his / her basic details like Date of Birth (DOB), Address, State, City, Country, Contact / Mobile Numbers and Email very carefully.

→ Enter your First name/ Middle name/Family name in the space provided. The name should be same as mentioned in the Class X/XII/School leaving certificate.

→ Important updates on the admission process will be available on the website.

→ Before final submission of Application Form, read the declaration carefully and give your consent on it, failing which you will not be able to complete your application.

→ Once submitted no changes/modifications will be possible for the information provided. No communication shall be entertained in this regard.

→ The processing of Application Form will begin only after the successful payment of Application Fee. If you opt for more than one programme, kindly pay application fee for each course separately.

Eligibility Criteria for the Academic Session 2019-2020

Eligibility Criteria for Masters’ Level Admissions at Nalanda University for Indian and International Students
-
→ A minimum of three years Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) with at least 55% marks or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA).

Selection
-
→ The entire application process for admissions is paperless and online in keeping with the University’s commitment to sustainability.

→ The Application form has to be filled in entirety and be submitted along with the Statement of Purpose (SOP) and documents mentioned therein.
-
→ The candidate has to visit the University website for filling the online Application Form.
-
→ Shortlisted applicants will be called for an online test on 28 th May 2019 at selected centers.

→ It is not guaranteed that all the applicants who have filled the Application Form and appeared in the entrance test would be selected for admission. The selected and the waitlisted candidates will be intimated accordingly.

International Students
-
→ A Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 15 years of prior studies with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.2 or above on a 4 point scale or equivalent grade if other grade point scale is used.

→ The international applicants shall present the score of any one of the following English Language Tests/ or proof of knowledge of English.
- TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language)
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System))
- Any other standard English test used on international platform
- or completed a full-time degree-level course entirely taught and assessed in English

Selection
-
→ The candidate has to visit the University website for filling the online Application Form. The candidate has to submit a duly filled Application Form and a Statement of Purpose (SOP) and pay an Application Fee of USD 08 (Eight US Dollars only or equivalent in Indian currency) towards the processing of the Application.

→ Shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview through video conferencing using Skype/ WhatsApp as per the scheduled time as intimated to the candidate. Selection will be purely on merit. Selected candidates will be recommended for the provisional admission for the academic year 2019-2020.

→ It is not guaranteed that all the applicants who have filled the Application Form and appeared in the interview would be selected for admission.

Eligibility Criteria for Post Graduate Diploma Programmes

→ A minimum of three years Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) in the relevant language or degree in any subject with demonstrated evidence of linguistic proficiency equivalent to the Bachelor’s degree

→ The University requires all applicants to demonstrate competence in the English language.
