The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) is introducing new Mathematicss syllabus for Arts and commerce students respectively. There will be basic Mathematics and commercial Mathematics for Arts and commerce students for upcomings academic session.
HS Council president Chiranjib Bhattacharjee said, "Students from any stream — science, Arts, and commerce — can select Mathematics but it is intended for science students. The subject is tougher compared to the Mathematics syllabus at the Madhyamik level. Keeping this intact, we are going to introduce two new courses from the next session. Basic Mathematics will be offered to students from the Arts background while commercial Mathematics will be offered to commerce students."
Only the basic Mathematics will be taught to Arts students and commercial Mathematics will be there for commerce students who select the economics- statistics combination
Council secretary Priyadarshini Mallick said, "Arts or commerce students who opted for Mathematics will be given an option after being promoted to class XII to avail of the facility of bifurcation."
