GENERAL GUIDELINES

1.1. It is hereby notified to all concerned that admission to Under Graduate (UG) programme of studies under The Sanskrit College and University in the year 2019 will take place according to the Regulations of the University and Higher Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal.

1.2. Students who have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination in the year 2017, 2018 and 2019 are eligible to apply for Honours/ Shastri courses (provided they have studied the subject wherever mentioned and have the minimum eligibility to apply).

1.3. Application will have to be filled in online by logging on to the University website: www.sanskritcollegeanduniversity.org.in. PLEASE NOTE THAT APPLICATION FORM WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLINE ONLY.

1.4. Students who will qualify Higher Secondary or equivalent (in the 10+2 system) are eligible to apply for admission to the courses, subject to their fulfilling of the eligibility criteria as given below.

1.5.. The total number of seats under different categories and the minimum eligibility criteria (cut-off percentage) for applying for admission to various Honours / Shastri courses is given as under. (Aggregate is to be calculated based on best four electives (Except Environmental Science/ Studies) at Higher Secondary or equivalent. )

1.6 All students wishing to take admission in Under-graduate Honours Degree course in different subjects must fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria as mentioned in point.

1.7. For admission to U.G. Honours courses in Sanskrit, English, Bengali and TOL (Advaita Vedanta, Panini Vyakaran, Sahitya), the Merit List will be prepared based on the Merit Index which will be calculated following the given formula: Merit Index = Best Four + Marks secured in subject at the HS level or equivalent. For Linguistics, Pali, Philosophy and Ancient Indian and World History, Merit Index will be prepared based on the calculated Marks of Best Four.

1.8 Reservations for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PC candidates shall be applicable as per Government rules, directives and constitutional provisions. For candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories there will be, as mandated by the Government, a relaxation of the minimum eligibility criteria (cut-off percentage) by 10% ( Provided, they have secured the pass marks at the HS level or equivalent)

1.9 All applications will be received online through the University website. The candidate is not required to submit the hard copy of the Online Application Form and supporting document(s) at the University. Admission to UG Courses in different subjects will be strictly Online. Physical Presence of any candidate will not be entertained before or during the admission procedure within the university premises.

2.0. After Publication of merit list, the eligible candidate will deposit required admission fees online. After successful payment the candidate will be notified about the confirmation of his/her admission through email/sms. If the candidate fails to deposit the fees within the stipulated time, his/ her selection shall be liable for cancellation.

2.1. Admission will be strictly on the basis of Merit List. Candidates are not required to sit for any Entrance Test.

3.0 Rules and regulations in respect of Reserved Quota

The following seats are reserved in each subject for the under mentioned categories:

i) For SC and ST - 22% and 6% respectively of the total seats of the concerned subject.

Eligibility - SC/ST candidates should submit SC/ST certificate issued as per the West Bengal Govt. SC/ST (identification) Act 1994.Candidates from other Universities outside West Bengal will have to submit domicile certificate along with their S.C./S.T./O.B.C.-A & B certificate.

ii) For Persons with Disability: reservation of 3% seats for PWD within each respective category (SC/ST, OBC-A, OBC- B/unreserved) of the concerned subject.

N.B. - Persons with disability candidates having 40% and above degree of disability should submit a certificate issued by the competent authority of a Govt. Hospital.

iii) For OBC-A/OBC-B: Percentage of seats for these categories has been fixed as per government rules.

4.0 INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES FOR ONLINE APPLICATION

  1. Application and Admission information can be obtained from the website of The Sanskrit College and University. The link for the Application will be displayed in the University Website.
  2. The Information Brochure will be uploaded in the website as well.
  3. Before proceeding for filling the Online Application Form, the applicant is required to have the following :
    1. Personal Email ID of the applicant is required for validations and future correspondence. In case you provide wrong/incorrect email ID you will not be able to receive the updates.
    2. Personal Mobile Number of the Applicant is required for validations and future correspondence. In case you provide wrong/incorrect mobile phone number you will not be able to receive the updates.
    3. Clearly scanned latest Passport Size Photograph (3.5 cms x 4.5 cms) & Signature; all in jpeg/jpg format, size limited to 100 KB each.
  4. The candidate will click on the “Apply Online” link for the Application Procedure.
  5. Please note that, the field with a red asterisk / star mark is mandatory (user cannot proceed for submission of form without entering valid data in it.)
  6. The Candidate will fill in the application form online and upload all the required documents. Once this process is complete, the candidate will be redirected to the payment portal.
  7. After successful payment of the fees (Application Fees: Rs 100/-), the candidate can complete the online application process by clicking the “SUBMIT APPLICATION” button.
  8. Once the payment is successful, a pdf will be generated and the student can download the pdf for future reference.
  9. For more than one application, Candidate should fill up separate application form along with separate application fees.

Please note that, no request for correction in form will be entertained once the candidate has successfully submitted the Online Application Form and fee.

The candidate is responsible for the particulars submitted by him in his/her Online Application Form.

5.0 DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED FOR SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION:

The Candidate must upload the following documents for successful application:

  1. Marksheet of Madhyamik/ Equivalent (Not more than 250 KB)
  2. Certificate of Madhyamik/ Equivalent (Not more than 250 KB)
  3. Marksheet of H.S. / Equivalent (Not more than 250 KB)
  4. Certificate of H.S. / Equivalent (Not more than 250 KB)
  5. Caste Certificate (If Applicable) (Not more than 250 KB)
  6. Disability Certificate (If Applicable) (Not more than 250 KB)
  7. Admit Card of Class X for D.O.B. Verification (Not more than 250 KB)
  8. Signature Upload (20 x 100 mm with white background in JPEG format less than 100 KB)
  9. Color Photo Upload (35 x 45 mm with white background in JPEG format less than 100 kb)

6.0 IMPORTANT DATES:

  • Online Application Opens: 29th May, 2019 (Wednesday), [From 12 Noon].
  • Online Application Closes: 10th June, 2019 (Monday). (Till 11:59 P.M.).
  • Publication of First Provisional Merit List: 14th June, 2019 (Friday)
  • Online Admission: 15th June, 2019 – 17th June, 2019 

Publication of Second Merit list will be notified later, if required.

7.0 COURSE OF STUDY

  1. A candidate admitted to Under-graduate Honours / Shastri Degree course shall register himself/ herself as a full-time student of the The Sanskrit College and University.
  2. All Under-graduate Honours / Shastri Degree courses will follow the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).
  3. A student registered for Under-graduate Honours / Shastri Degree course in a particular subject shall not be permitted to seek admission to and pursue concurrently any other equivalent or higher degree course in this university or elsewhere.
  4. A student shall be deemed to have pursued a regular course of study in a subject provided he/ she has an attendance of at least 75 per cent in class lectures. Taking part in field trips/ educational tours, undertaking projects, participating in the department organized seminars, etc. will be treated mandatory. A student will only be allowed to write the end-semester examination if his/her total attendance percentage for that semester is 75% and above.
  5. The attendance of a candidate shall be counted from the date on which the respective classes begin (to be notified by the respective departments), or from the date on which he/ she is admitted, whichever is later.
  6. A candidate with attendance between65% to 74% will be declared ‘absentee’. Such a candidate may be permitted to write his/her end semester examination after being allowed by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Head of the Department in writing and after having paid the appropriate ‘absentee’ fees.
  7. The University shall have the power to condone a deficiency in attendance, as per the instructions given by the competent authorities.
  8. A student debarred from writing the end-semester examination due to insufficient attendance may be allowed to take re-admission for the same semester only in the next year.
  9. The syllabus as presented along with the Regulation shall be changed, if so required by the University from time to time.
