Undergraduate Admission Reservation Policy 2022

RESERVATION POLICY

Reservation Policy for admission in three year (six semesters) degree courses of studies shall be guided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission), Act, 2013 and the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2014.

FOR SC/ST

  • As per Government rule Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates in his/her domicile state are entitled to get the reservation facility. SC/ST certificate issued by the competent authority of Government of West Bengal are only accepted.
  •  An applicant having SC/ST certificate issued by authorities from other than Government of West Bengal shall be treated as General Category applicant.
  • A Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe student getting admission should obtain marks in the previous qualifying examination in the relevant subject not lower than 25% than that of obtained by the last candidate admitted from the general category.
  • SC/ST candidate securing equal or higher marks than the last candidate admitted from the general category to be treated as General Category if he/she wishes.

FOR OBC

  • As per Government rule OBC-A and OBC-B candidates in his/her domicile state are entitled to get the reservation facilityOBC-A and OBC-B certificate issued by the competent authority of Government of West Bengal are only accepted.
  • An applicant having OBC-A/OBC-B certificate issued by authorities from other than Government of West Bengal shall be treated as General Category applicant.
  • OBC-A and OBC-B student getting admission should obtain marks in the previous qualifying examination in the relevant subject not lower than 10% than that of obtained by the last candidate admitted from the general category.
  • OBC-A and OBC-B candidate securing equal or higher marks than the last candidate admitted from the general category to be treated as General Category if he/she wishes.

FOR PWD

  • Persons with disabilities (PwD) having degree of disability 40% and above is entitled to get 3% reservation facility in each of the categories horizontally, i.e. in SC, ST, OBC -A, OBC-B and in the Unreserved or General Category.
  • The PWD candidates claiming seats under reserved category are required to produce appropriate PWD certificates issued by the competent authority (Officer-in-Charge or Medical Head of Primary Health Centres, Block Primary Health Centres, State General Hospitals, Rural Hospitals, Sub-Divisional Hospitals or the District Hospitals run by the State Govemment or any hospital run by a statutory body or authority)
  • A PwD candidate getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 25% of the marks obtained by the last candidate of the general category.
  • PwD candidates hailing from states other than West Bengal are not eligible for such benefits and they will be treated as General Category candidates.

THE CERTIFICATE BEING SUBMITTED BY THE CANDIDATE FOR CLAIMING RESERVATION UNDER SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B and/or PwD QUOTA, MUST HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITY, ON A DATE PRIOR TO THE SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION. CERTIFICATE ISSUED ON A LATER DATE BY ANY AUTHORITY, WILL NOT BE ACCEPTABLE AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION
