Academic Session: 2022-2023

Applications are invited from Indian citizens only for admission to Master Degree Programmes (2-Years) of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV) at Mohanpur Campus for the academic session 2022-23. Interested candidates may apply for admission to the Master degree programmes through online mode. Link will be available on university website (www.bckv.edu.in).

    + Procedure of filling up of PG seats

    Out of total seats (Department-wise):
    • 75% seats will be reserved as University seats;
    • 25% seats will be reserved as ICAR quota. ICAR’s nominees will be considered as per prevailing rules.
    All Master’s Degree seats, excepting ICAR seats, will be filled up in the following manner:
    • Out of the 75% University seats: 80% seats will be filled from domicile category (if not filled, these category of seats will be filled from open category) and remaining 20% will be filled from open category (domicile and non-domicile). During admission 80% domicile category seats will be filled first, then only remaining 20% open category seats will be filled.
    • Eighty percent (80%) of the seat in each department rounded off to nearer absolute number will be filled up category-wise (UR/SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B) as per reservation policy of the Government of West Bengal on the basis of merit list.
    • No reservation policy will be followed in respect of filling the remaining 20% open category seats.
    • No benefit of reservation will be extended to the non-domicile candidates.
    • In case any seat falls vacant due to non-availability of domicile candidates, it will be filled up by non-domicile candidates on the basis of merit list.
    • The ICAR left over seats, if any, will be filled up by the students of BCKV only.
    • Only one time up-gradation will be allowed module-wise.
    • Admission test (to be conducted by BCKV) and also academic record will be considered for preparation of merit list.

    + Guidelines for Entrance Examination of Master Degree Programme

    • Admission test will be conducted by BCKV.
    • Under three Faculties (Agriculture, Horticulture & Agril. Engineering) there will be all total nine (9) Modules to choose from (Annexure-I).
    • The nine modules are categorised under three Groups- A, B & C (Annexure-I).
    • Admission test will be held Module-wise.
    • Admission test for all the modules will be held on the same day in three separate time slots, specified for the three Groups (A/B/C).
    • Candidates with Agriculture and Horticulture background can opt for any two modules under any two Groups (any one module under each Group).
    • Module 9 – Agricultural Engineering will be available to Agricultural Engineering graduates.
    • Agriculture graduates will have eight (8) modules (Module 1 to 8) to choose from and Horticulture graduates will have only seven (7) modules (Modules 1 to 8, except Module 5) to choose from [B.Sc.(Hort.) graduates will not be eligible to apply for Agronomy Module (Module 5)] (Annexure-I).
    • At the time of counselling, as per merit list, the candidates shall get the opportunity of choosing a discipline of study under the particular Module for which they may get selected (details of courses is provided in Annexure-I).
    • Candidates desiring to apply under two modules, will be required to fill only one Application Form, and will not be required to pay any extra application fee.
    • Admission test will be of 60 marks. The question paper will comprise of 60 MCQs of 1 marks each, and each with 4 unambiguous alternatives.
    • The duration of the admission test will be one (1) hour.
    • There will be negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer.
    Merit list will be prepared according to the following weightage:

    Note: In respect of candidates who earlier got admitted in B.Tech. (Ag. Engg.) programme through Lateral Entry Scheme, in their case marks obtained by them in Diploma course will be considered in place of H.S. score.

    + Departments / Subjects

    • Faculty of Agriculture:
      (1) Biochemistry, (2) Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, (3) Plant Physiology, (4) Genetics and Plant Breeding, (5) Plant Pathology, (6) Seed Science and Technology, (7) Agril. Meteorology, (8) Soil Science, (9) Agril. Chemicals, (10) Entomology, (11) Agronomy, (12) Agril. Economics, (13) Agril. Extension Education, (14) Agril. Statistics.
    • Faculty of Horticulture:
      (1) Vegetable Science, (2) Fruit Science, (3) Post Harvest Management, (4) Floriculture and Landscaping, (5) Plantation, Spices, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops.
    • Faculty of Agricultural Engineering:
      (1) Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, (2) Processing and Food Engineering.

    + Eligibility for Admission

    • Agriculture and Horticulture (M.Sc.):
      • Candidates must have passed 4-year Bachelor Degree examination in Agriculture/Horticulture. General and OBC candidates must secure Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of at least 6.50 in 10.00 scale whereas for SC/ST/PWD candidates, the said requirement is at least 5.50 in 10.00 scale. In traditional system where grade-points are not awarded, the General and OBC category candidates must have secured at least 60% marks, whereas for SC/ST/PWD categories, the requirement is at least 50% marks.
      • Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2) in General stream or Vocational stream securing at least 50% marks in aggregate for General and OBC categories, whereas for candidates under SC/ST/PWD categories the said requirement is at least 40% marks.
      • Students from ICAR accredited/State/Central Aided Universities/Institutes would only be eligible to take admission in PG courses. At the time of admission, candidates will be required to submit certificates from competent authority in support of accreditation of the Institute/University from which the candidate has obtained his/her bachelor degree.
      • All the candidates are required to submit photocopy of all transcripts at the time of Counseling/ admission.
    • Agricultural Engineering (M.Tech.):
      • Candidates must have passed 4-year Bachelor Degree examination in Agricultural Engineering. General and OBC candidates must secure Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of at least 6.50 in 10.00 scale, whereas for SC/ST/PWD candidates the said requirement is at least 5.50 in 10.00 scale. In traditional system where grade points are not awarded, the General and OBC category candidates must have secured at least 60% marks, whereas for SC/ST/PWD categories the requirement is at least 50% marks.
      • Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2) and securing at least 45% in aggregate for general and OBC candidates and 40% for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
      • In respect of candidates who earlier got admitted in B.Tech. (Ag. Engg.) programme through Lateral Entry Scheme, marks obtained by them in Diploma course will be considered in place of H.S. score. In this case, student under Lateral Entry Scheme, candidate must have passed with 60% marks under General and OBC category and 55% marks for SC/ST/PwD category.
      • Candidate who might have obtained his/her B.Tech Degree from any University where the concerned Faculty/College/Programme is not approved by AICTE or is not aided by the State/Central Government shall not be eligible for admission to Master Degree programme.
      • Applicants having Bachelor Degree from other University or college will have to produce a certificate from appropriate authority mentioning that the concerned Faculty/College/Programme is either AICTE approved or is aided by State/Central Government, before taking admission/ reporting, failing which his/her candidature is liable to be cancelled.
      • All the candidates are required to submit photocopy of all the transcripts at the time of Counseling/reporting for admission.
    • In- Service Candidates:
      • There shall be one additional seat in each department reserved for In-Service candidate. In-Service candidates should have at least three years service experience in a Govt. Organization/Institute/University. Admission of in-service candidates for Master Degree Programme will be made on the basis of merit list.
      • In-Service candidates are required to send a printed copy of filled-in online application form, duly forwarded by his/her employer, to the Registrar, BCKV, so as to reach the University before commencement of counseling/admission.
      • In-Service candidates must submit a "NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE" from his/her present employer at the time of reporting. After admission, the concerned students have to submit an approval letter of leave for a period of 2 years issued by his/her employer within two (2) months from the date of reporting, failing which his/her admission will be treated as cancelled without any further intimation.

    + Mode of Application (Online) and Payment of Fees (Online)

    Candidates have to apply online through the Viswavidyalaya website (www.bckv.edu.in) and application fee is to be paid as per the following rates. Application fees once paid will not be refunded.
    General/OBC category Rs. 1,800/-
    SC/ ST/PwD Rs. 900/-
    Note: Candidates desiring to apply under two modules, will be required to fill only one Application Form, and will not be required to pay any extra application fee.

    + Cancellation of Admission

    If it is found at any stage that a candidate has obtained admission by misrepresentation and/or suppression of facts, his/her admission shall be liable to be cancelled, without assigning any reason.

    • Personal Information of the Candidate: Candidate’s full name, Father’s name, Mother’s name, Guardian’s name, Relationship with guardian, Date of Birth, Sex (Male/Female/Others), Blood Group, Category (General/SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD), In-service (Yes/No), Religion, Nationality (Indian), Domicile (West Bengal/Other State), Subjects, Candidate’s E-mail ID, Guardian’s e-mail ID, Candidate’s mobile number, Guardian’s Mobile Number, Candidate’s AADHAAR Card Number.
    • Address: Permanent Address and address for Correspondence.
    • DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE UPLOADED AT THE TIME OF SUBMITTING ON-LINE APPLICATION:
      Passport size colour photograph, Scanned signature, Age proof certificate (Birth Certificate/Admit Card or Certificate of Secondary Examination), Mark Sheets [H.S. Examination/H.S. (Vocational Examination) [10+2 Standard]/Diploma course] [Both Side], Bachelor Degree (4-Years Degree Course)] [Both Side], Caste Certificate (if any), AADHAAR Card.
    • SUBMISSION OF FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS BY THE CANDIDATE AT THE TIME OF REPORTING (AS UPLOADED AT THE TIME OF ONLINE APPLICATION):
      Candidates are hereby directed to produce photocopy of the following documents (as uploaded) along with ORIGINALS for verification at the time of Reporting/Admission:
      • Mark-sheets/Grade Cards of Examination: H.S. Examination (10+2 Standard) / Diploma Course, Bachelor Degree (4-Years Degree Course) [Both sides].
      • Age-proof certificate [Birth Certificate/ Admit Card or Certificate of Secondary Examination (10th Standard)].
      • SC/ST/PWD & OBC-A & OBC-B certificates from competent authority.
      • Domicile certificate issued by the competent authority (Chairman or Executive Officer of Municipality/Commissioner or Administrator of Municipal Corporation/Pradhan, Gram Panchayat/B.D.O./S.D.O.).
      • AADHAAR Card of the candidate.
      • Two (2) copies of recent colour passport size photograph.
      • Self-attested copy of valid medical certificate from appropriate authority (Sub-Divisional Medical Officer, Superintendent of State Hospital or above category) for persons with disability (PWD candidates).
    • BLOOD ELECTROPHORESIS (THALASSAEMIA) TEST REPORT:
      Candidates who will be admitted in this University are required to submit self-attested copy of Blood Electrophoresis (Thalassaemia) test report to the Registrar’s Department (Admission & Scholarship Section) within 1 (one) month from the date of admission.
    • ANTI-RAGGING:
      Candidates who will be admitted in this University are required to submit necessary Affidavit/Declaration/Undertaking to the office of the Dean, Students’ Welfare (DSW) on the date of reporting.

    + Admit Card for Entrance Examination

    Candidates eligible to appear in the Entrance Examination of M.Sc. / M.Tech. programme are required to bring the computer generated Admit Card along with two copies of duly self attested passport size photograph on the day of the entrance examination.

    + Schedule for Entrance Examination

    • Admission test will be held Module-wise;
    • Admission test for all the modules will be held on the same day in three separate time slots, specified for the three Groups (A/B/C).

    + Special Attention

    • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification of the application.
    • On the day of reporting, candidates who will be found eligible after verification of documents with the data provided in the application form, will only be allowed to take final admission.
    • Hostel accommodation will be provided subject to availability of vacancy.
    • The decision of the Admission Committee will be treated as final.
