    • List of selected candidates for admission to both the categories will be will be published in the website and selected candidates will be asked to get admitted through online payment of admission fees through the link that will be provided in the published notification/ other modes to be decided by the respective Centre of Learning.
    For Schedule Caste & Schedule Tribes Candidates:
    Reservation for SC/ST candidates for admission will be as per reservation rules vide Govt. Order No.: 07-Edn (U)/1U-89/13.- dated. 2nd January, 2014 “for admission to different courses, an SC or ST candidate getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination; qualifying marks not lower by more than 25% of the marks obtained by the last candidate of the general category.” Relevant Certificate must conform to West Bengal Govt. Memo No. 1813-BCW/MR-94/11 dated 20th June, 2011.Candidates claiming reservation against SC/ST and OBCA/OBC-B(relevant certificate is required) quota of seats must submit relevant caste certificates issued in their favour by one of the authorities listed below:
    • Deputy Collector of Land Revenue,
    • Kolkata Collector of Stamp Revenue,
    • Kolkata Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata,
    • Addl. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata,
    • Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata,
    • 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate,
    • Executive Magistrate,
    • Sub-Divisional Magistrate,
    • Sub-Divisional Officer,
    • Deputy Collector,
    • Addl. District Magistrate,
    • Collector and District Magistrate within their respective jurisdictions in case of candidates claiming to be Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe and ordinarily residing within such jurisdictions.
    For OBC-A & OBC-B Candidates:
    Reservation for OBC-A/OBC-B candidates for admission will be as per reservation rules vide Govt. Order No.: 07-Edn (U)/1U-89/13.- dated. 2nd January, 2014 "for admission to different courses, an OBCA or OBCB candidate getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination; qualifying marks not lower by more than 10% of the marks obtained by the last candidate of the general category". The West Bengal Higher Educational Institutions (The Reservation in Admissions) Act, 2013 enacted by Govt. of West Bengal has opened the opportunity for the students belonging to OBC-A and OBC-B (as determined and notified by Backward Classes Welfare Department, Govt. of West Bengal) for reservation of seats in higher education in the state. The communities listed by the Department of Backward Classes Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal as OBC-A and OBC-B would get the benefit of reservation.

    For Differently Abled (DA Category) Candidates:
    The candidates seeking admission under this category must produce a valid certificate issued by an appropriate authority not below the rank of Superintendent of Sub-Divisional Hospital. In the certificate, the mentioned extent of Physical Disability must not be less than 40%.
    APPLICANTS WHO HAVE SECURED LESS THAN 50% MARKS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF THEY FAIL TO QUALIFY FOR THE SEATS UNDER THIS CATEGORY.

    For Sports (SP Category) Candidates:
    Sports quota will be available in Burdwan University Campus only for the candidates who have passed out from the University of Burdwan in graduation level, seeking admission under 80% category. Candidates applying for admission against Sports (SP) Category of seats must have to submit certificates for their participation in National or Inter-University Sports and Athletic competitions (not earlier than Madhyamik level) and representing the University team in AIU Games as per AIU norms. If more than 01 (One) candidate applies under SP Category in any particular subject/program, then the applicant having higher marks in Grade Point (GP) will be selected under SP Category. The intake under SP Category will be guided by the resolution of the meeting of the Executive Council, held on 07.12.2021 (Item No. – 291 (AOM))

    GRADE POINT (GP) = 50% of Hons Marks + 30% of HS or Equivalent Exam. Marks + 20% of Madhyamik or Equivalent Exam. Marks

    + General Eligibility Criteria

    • Minimum marks for admission to the unreserved seats in all M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. course of studies under Faculty Councils of Science & Arts is 50% at the Honours level in the concerned/relevant subject from a UGC recognised University. For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/DA/SP categories, eligibility is minimum of 45% marks in honours in the concerned/relevant subject (including the relevant multidisciplinary subjects).

      Eligibility criteria for admission to PG Course of other subjects:
      M.Ed. (Fresher): B.Ed./B.A. B.Ed./B.Sc. B.Ed./B.El.Ed. Course with a minimum of 50% marks or Undergraduate Degree and D.El.Ed. with 50% marks in each from a UGC recognised University.

      M.Ed. (Deputed): Deputed candidates with minimum 50% marks at B.Ed./B.Ed. (Sc.) from any NCTE recognized Institutions are eligible to apply. Selection of deputed candidates will be made on calculation of their length of approved service only. In case of the uniformity in the length of service, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the B.Ed./B.Ed. (Sc.) Degree is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. In case of the uniform score in the concerned B. Ed. Degree, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in H.S Examination is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit. At the time of admission, deputed candidates will have to produce the RELEASE ORDER from their employer, permitting them to prosecute the course of studies on full-time basis failing which their selection shall be cancelled.

      M.P.Ed. (Fresher): B.P.Ed. or B.P.E. course with a minimum of 50% marks from a UGC recognised University.

      M.A. in Hindusthani Classical Vocal Music and M.A. in Rabindra Sangeet: Honours graduate in Music with a minimum of 50% marks from a UGC recognised University.

      LL.M.: 3 Years or 5 Years LL.B. Course with a minimum of 50% marks from a UGC recognised University.
    • Eligibility criteria for admission to PG Course of Studies in different multidisciplinary subjects such as Women’s Studies, MLIS, Mass Communication, MBA, MBA (Tourism), MBA (Human Resource), are given below:
      • Women's Studies: Honours Graduates of any UGC recognized University who have done the three-year Hons. Course in History, Pol. Sc., Philosophy, Sociology, Economics and Languages with minimum 50% marks.
      • MLIS: Honours Graduates of any UGC recognized University who have done the three-year Hons. Course/LLB/BBA/BCA/B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm./MBBS etc. with a minimum of 50% marks.
      • Mass Communication: Honours Graduates of any UGC recognized University who have done the three-year Hons. Course/LLB/BBA/BCA/B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm./MBBS etc. with a minimum of 50% marks.
      • MBA Programmes [MBA, MBA (Tourism), MBA (HR)]: Honours Graduates of any UGC recognized University who have done the three-year Hons. Course/LLB/BBA/BCA/B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm./MBBS etc. with a minimum of 50% marks. However, first preference will be given to those candidates who have appeared in and have valid score of CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT and JEMAT. If thereafter vacant seats are still available, candidates shall be selected based on the merit as per the prescribed eligibility and procedure of selection.

    + Selection Procedure

    • FOR SUBJECTS OTHER THAN MULTIDISCIPLINARY SUBJECTS
      • 80% of the total Intake for Pass outs of B.U. Students
        80% of the total intake of seats will be reserved exclusively for the pass-outs from the Under-Graduate Colleges affiliated to the University of Burdwan. Admission to these seats will be offered strictly on the basis of Grade Points to be calculated by adding 50% of Honours Marks with 30% of HS or equivalent examinations’ marks and 20% of Madhyamik or equivalent examinations’ marks. In case of the equal Grade Points, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Honours Degree is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. In case of the uniform score in the concerned Honours Degree, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Higher Secondary Examination is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. If the percentage of Higher Secondary marks is also being the same, percentage of Secondary Examination will be considered for ranking. If, at all these stages, performances of more than one student are found to be same, then final decision regarding selection of candidate will be referred to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BU.
      • 20% of total Intake for Pass outs of Other University Students
        Remaining 20% of the seats will be filled up on the basis of Grade Points to be calculated by adding 50% of Honours with 30% of HS or equivalent examinations’ marks and 20% of Madhyamik or equivalent examinations’ marks from the applicants from Universities other than The University of Burdwan. In case of the equal Grade Points, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Honours Degree is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. In case of the uniform score in the concerned Honours Degree, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Higher Secondary Examination is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. If the percentage of Higher Secondary marks is also being the same, percentage of Secondary Examination will be considered for ranking. If, at all these stages, performances of more than one student are found to be same, then final decision regarding selection of candidate will be referred to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BU.
    • FOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY SUBJECTS
      Seats in the multidisciplinary subjects will be filled up on the basis of Grade Points to be calculated by adding 50% of Honours or equivalent examinations’ Marks with 30% of HS or equivalent examinations’ marks and 20% of Madhyamik or equivalent examinations’ marks. In case of the equal Grade Points, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Honours Degree is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. In case of the uniform score in the concerned Honours Degree, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Higher Secondary Examination is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. If the percentage of Higher Secondary marks is also being the same, percentage of Secondary Examination will be considered for ranking. If, at all these stages, performances of more than one student are found to be same, then final decision regarding selection of candidate will be referred to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BU.
