+ Eligibility Criteria

Minimum marks for admission to the unreserved seats in M.A./M.Sc. course of studies under Faculty Council (Science) is 50% at the Honours level in the concerned/relevant subject from any UGC recognised University. For candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / DA / SP categories, eligibility is minimum of 45% marks in honours in the concerned/relevant subject (including the relevant multidisciplinary subjects).

+ Procedure of Selection

• Rank List will be prepared on the basis of Grade Point (GP).
• Grade Point (GP) – 50% of Honours percentage in concerned subject + 30% of percentage of HS or equivalent Examination + 20% of percentage of Madhyamik or equivalent Examination.


• FOR SUBJECTS OTHER THAN MULTIDISCIPLINARY SUBJECTS:
  • 80% of seats (for BU pass-outs): 80% of the total intake of seats will be reserved exclusively for the pass-outs from the Under- Graduate Colleges affiliated to the University of Burdwan. In case of the equal Grade Points (GP), percentage of marks in the concerned Honours Degree will be considered for determining the rank in the Rank List. If the honours percentage of two candidates are found same, then the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examination is to be considered for determining the position in the Rank List. If the percentage of Higher Secondary marks are also same, percentage of Madhyamik or equivalent Examination will be considered for ranking. If, at all these stages, performances of more than one student are found to be same, then final decision regarding selection of candidate will be referred to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BU.
  • 20% of seats (for Other University pass-outs): Remaining 20% of the seats will be filled up from the applicants from Universities other than The University of Burdwan. In case of the equal Grade Points (GP), percentage of marks in the concerned Honours Degree will be considered for determining the rank in the Rank List. If the honours percentage of two candidates are found same, then the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examination is to be considered for determining the position in the Rank List. If the percentage of Higher Secondary marks are also same, percentage of Madhyamik or equivalent Examination will be considered for ranking. If, at all these stages, performances of more than one student are found to be same, then final decision regarding selection of candidate will be referred to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BU.
  • In the event of seats under 80% category remaining vacant for want of eligible candidates, vacant seats will be filled from the waiting list of 20% category and vice-versa.
• FOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY SUBJECTS:
  • Seats in the multidisciplinary subjects are open for all. In case of the equal Grade Points (GP), percentage of marks in the concerned Honours Degree will be considered for determining the rank in the Rank List. If the honours percentage of two candidates are found same, then the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examination is to be considered for determining the position in the Rank List. If the percentage of Higher Secondary marks are also same, percentage of Madhyamik or equivalent Examination will be considered for ranking. If, at all these stages, performances of more than one student are found to be same, then final decision regarding selection of candidate will be referred to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BU.

+ Stages of Admission

• Broad Rank List for both the categories of seats with category wise separate lists will be published after verification of the documents uploaded.
• Selection of candidates will be made following online counselling to be made through the dashboard of individual applicant in the online admission portal. List of selected candidates for admission all categories will be published in the website. Admission will be complete after payment of admission fee through the link provided in the individual dashboard of applicants.
