Admission to the Ph.D Programme
Session: 2019
Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D Programme (2019) of the Department of Ancient Indian History and Culture, University of Calcutta.
The application form is downloadable from the University website (www.caluniv.ac.in).
The application form, duly filled in, is to be submitted to the office of the Head of the Department, Ancient Indian History and Culture, University of Calcutta, after payment of Rs. 100/- only, following the procedure mentioned in the website.
  • Submission of application forms:
    From 15th July (Monday) to 26th July (Friday), 2019 within office hours.
    All application forms to be accompanied by relevant attested testimonials. Caste and other certificates should be issued by competent authorities.
  • Publication of the list of eligible candidates on the University website:
    2nd August (Friday), 2019.
  • Date of written admission test (excluding non-NET/SET/M.Phil candidates):
    19th August (Monday), 2019.
  • Publication of list of successful candidates:
    30th August (Friday), 2019.
  • Date of interview (for all candidates including those qualified in NET/SET/M.Phil):
    12th September (Thursday), 2019.
  • Venue of written admission test and interview:
    Department of Ancient Indian History and Culture,
    Alipore Campus, 8th Floor,
    1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata – 700 027.
  • Publication of the final list of successful candidates:
    23rd September (Monday), 2019.
  • Number of vacancies: 20.
    Reservation of seats shall follow the guidelines provided in the West Bengal Higher Educational Institutions, (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2013.
  • Aggregate marks for written examination: 50.
  • Aggregate marks of interview: 50.
  • Details regarding written Admission Test: Total 50 marks;
    MCQ type questions – 15 of 2 marks each (Total 30 marks); and one subjective question of 20 marks.
  • Qualifying marks for written test: 50% for General category; 45% for Sc/ST/OBC/PH.
