Admission Notice for M.A.[Day & Evening] for External Applicants, 2023-2024
INFORMATION
As per the order of the Govt. of West Bengal there is no application fee. However, there will be Admission Test fees of Rs.100/- for applicants belongs to SC/ST/PD/EWS categories and Rs.200/- for other applicants.
Last date of submission of online admission test fees is 01/9/2023.

+ ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
+ SELECTION PROCEDURE
For Comparative Literature | For Category I (those with Honours in any literature subject including Comparative Literature):- Selection will be made on the basis of marks secured in the Admission Test. There will be a single paper for Category-I candidates. For Category-II (those with Honours in non-literature subjects in Arts/Science/Commerce or with a degree in Engineering/ Technology/Medical or any other recognized Bachelor degree):- Selection will be made on the basis of marks secured in the Admission Test. Category-II students will have to appear for two papers in general literature in the Admission Test. |
For Bengali, Linguistics, Economics, Political Science with International Relations, English | Selection will be made solely on the basis of Admission Test in the subject concerned. |
For History | Selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the Honours/Major papers. |
For Film Studies | Selection will be made solely on the basis of Admission Test. |
For Philosophy and Sociology | Selection will be made on the basis of equal weightage on the marks secured in the Honours papers and an Admission Test in the subject. |
For Sanskrit | Selection will be made on the basis of 1) 30% weightage of marks obtained in Honours papers 2) 70% weightage of the performance in a written admission test. |
For Education | Category-I: Selection will be made on the basis of 1) 20% weightage of marks obtained in Secondary or equivalent examination, 2) 30% weightage of marks obtained in H.S. or equivalent examination 3) 50% weightage of marks obtained in Honours papers. Category-II: Selection will be made on the basis of 1) 20% weightage of marks obtained in Secondary or equivalent examination, 2) 30% weightage of marks obtained in H.S. or equivalent examination 3) 50% weightage of marks obtained in B.Ed. examination. |
Selection Procedure for Master of Arts (Evening) Courses | |
For Bengali | Selection will be made solely on the basis of Admission Test in the subject concerned. |
For History | Selection will be made on the basis of equal weightage on the marks secured in the Honours papers and an Admission Test in the subject. |
For Sanskrit | Selection will be made on the basis of 1) 30% weightage of marks obtained in Honours papers 2) 70% weightage to the performance in a written admission test. |
+ HOW TO CALCULATE THE PERCENTAGE OF MARKS
For Secondary or equivalent | On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in class 10th board examination. |
For Higher Secondary or equivalent | On the basis of: 1. W.B.C.H.S.E.: Best of 4 subjects excluding marks of Environmental Studies/Environmental Education/Environmental Science (out of 400 marks) 2. Central Board of Secondary Education: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks) 3. Council for the Indian School Certificate: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks) 4. Other Boards: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks) |
For Honours Graduates (Non-CBCS) | On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in Honours papers only. |
For Honours Graduates (CBCS) | On the basis of aggregate of marks obtained in Core papers and DSE papers only. |
