    Minimum marks: 45% of Marks belonging to General applicants. However, SC, ST and PwD candidates shall be eligible for relaxation of 5% marks.

    + Selection Process for Admission

    GENERAL:
    • Selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit.
    • The Merit list will be prepared on the basis of percentage of marks the obtained by a candidate at Graduation level. The formula as mentioned below will be fitted at the software system for conversion from CGPA to Percentage (%) of marks, so that, the applicants (students of Raiganj University and other universities) who obtained marks in CGPA need not to put additional effort for conversion of marks obtained in CGPA to Percentage (%) of marks they have obtained. In this connection Universities declaring results in CGPA not in % will be considered on the basis of the formula stated in the Section 3.6.6 of the Raiganj University UG CBCS Regulations, 2017 which is as under-
      The conversion formula for converting CGPA to the corresponding percentage of marks will be as follows:
      X= 10 Y – 4.5 (Where, X = Percentage of Marks, Y = CGPA)
      The same formula will be applied for conversion from CGPA to Percentage (%) of marks for the applicants who passed from a University declaring marks only in CGPA.
    • In case of multiple candidates applied with same % of marks at Graduation level, and the applicants are exclusively from the Home University and applicants from different universities other than Home University, the tie will be broken following the % of marks obtained at HS or equivalent, followed by Madhyamik or equivalent and date of birth and in order of alphabets in the name. However, if the tie happens between and among the Home University and Other University applicants, the applicant from the Home University will be preferred.
    • Normally 80% seats will be for the students of the Raiganj University and 20% seats for other Open to all. This 80% and 20% may be relaxed in case of non- availability of the applicants in either category.
      a. Vacancy in the RGU Quota: The students of the RGU will get the opportunity first to fill the vacancy in the slot, in order of Merit as published in the Merit List for the Students of the Raiganj University according to the respective category of students.
      b. Vacancy in the Open Quota: The students falling in the slot will follow the merit list for the open seats in the respective category.
    • Once a student’s name appears in the merit list, and he/she fails to take admission within stipulated time, his/her name would not be considered in any subsequent list of the same subject.
    • All the candidates passed the UG Hons. Course from the Raiganj University in the respective Course are eligible to apply for the courses. However, the students appeared in the Final Exam with back papers in Pass subject/s applying for the admission are required to submit the Passed Marksheet by during the verification of documents, failing which will lead to the cancellation of the admission.
    • As per Govt. Notification No. 439- Edn(CS)/10M-95/14 dated 13th July, 2023, the verification of documents will be done only when the students report for the classes in due course.

    RESERVATION: The reservation policies of West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (reservation in Admission) Act, 2013 and West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (reservation in Admission) Rules, 2014 will be followed in respect of admission of SC/ST/OBC-A&B and 325-PAR(AR)/3P- 1/2019 dated 09- 07- 2019 & No. 339-Edn (CS)/OM-74L/2023, dated 26th May, 2023 for the reservation of EWS applicants. However, in connection with the reservation of the PWD, the provision of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 will be applicable. Fraction of 0.5% or more will be rounded to the next whole number.

    SPORTSQUOTA: The University offers the Sports Quota. The University Sports Board reserves the right to recommend the candidates to fill the same.
    • Prize holders at International/National/State representation will be considered for sports quota provided that he/she participated in the Inter College Competition/ Inter College Athletic Meet organized by any university in his/her career.
    • The sports events are Football, Volleyball, Athletic, Yoga, Khoko, Kabadi, Chess, Table Tennis etc. The University Sports committee will assess the performance of the applicants in the respective field.
    • 1% of total seats of all PG courses is reserved for Sports.
    • The seats for General candidates in the subject will be reduced by the No. of students selected for Sports/ Culture quota in that subject.
    CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION: The admission will be cancelled if a student remains absent from classes for less than 75% from the date of admission without any intimation to the concerned Head / Secretary, or any of the faculty members of the concerned Department and furnishing documentary evidence in that regard. On cancellation of admission, the claim for refund will be addressed in accordance with the directives issued by the Govt. of West Bengal and UGC. However, the claim of refund will not be entertained if the cancellation of admission happens due to any types of punishment is awarded to the applicant.

    POINTS TO REMEMBER:
    • Students are directed not to share the email ID and Password to any person.
    • 75% attendance in first 15 days is a must to continue the studentship in the course; otherwise the candidature will be cancelled.
    • Furnishing of false information, if any, at any stage of the admission process will lead to the cancellation of admission.
    N.B.: Raiganj University is a ragging free Campus. Ragging in all its forms in Raiganj University Campus is strictly prohibited. Any such incident comes to the notice of the Raiganj University Authority, the University will show zero tolerance to the same.
