Session: 2019-2020
Applications are invited for admission to the following Post-Graduate & other Courses and M.Phil. Programmes for the academic session 2019-20.

The candidates will fill in the Application Form only through online portal (http://onlineadmission.vidyasagar.ac.in).

After successful completion of all the steps (e.g., filling in the personal details, academic details, uploading photo and signature), the candidate will pay Rs. 250/- (plus convenience fee & GST if applicable) only for Post Graduate & other Courses (except M.Phil.) and Rs. 350/-(plus convenience fee & GST if applicable) only for M.Phil. Programmes through online mode of payment (credit/debit card, net banking, etc) only. The students of Vidyasagar University & autonomous colleges affiliated to Vidyasagar University/Other universities are eligible to fill in forms for admission to Post-Graduate and other courses with their marks obtained in B.A. (Hons.) / B.Sc. (Hons.) / B.Com. (Hons.) Part-I & Part-II examinations (Total Hons Marks of Part-I & II). However, they have to produce the original marksheets of final examinations (Part-III) at the time of verification.

    • The students having the following eligibility criteria are eligible for admission to following PG courses for the academic session 2019-20.

      The application form for admission to MBA course will be available in our university website. The information regarding university test (VUMAT) will be notified later in the university website. The candidates willing to be admitted to the MCA course are requested to fill in forms online with their JECA rank of 2019. The advertisement for admission to MCA course will be made later in the university website.
      Subject Criteria
      MBA Graduate in Science / Arts / Commerce / Medical / Engineering / Law (5 year) under 10+2+3 system or equivalent with 45% marks in Hons or in aggregate (40% marks for SC/ST).
      Selection will be made through Entrance Test like JEMAT, MAT, CAT or university own test (VUMAT) followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

      • 55% marks for General candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD category at PG level. The students appearing at the final semester examination of post graduate course shall be eligible to sit for entrance examination.
      • 60% of total seats are reserved for the students of Vidyasagar University & autonomous college(s) affiliated to V.U and the rest 40% seats are open to all.
      • The admission test marks is 50 and Viva-voce marks is 50. The merit list will be according to the performance of admission test and viva-voce.
      • Candidates qualified at the NET/GATE/SET/UGC (JRF)/CSIR (JRF) or any other examination that considered equivalent by the BRS shall also be exempted from appearing the written admission test. They have to appear at the interview/Viva-voce directly.

SELECTION AND ADMISSION PROCESS

  • For the students of Vidyasagar University(60% of total seat)
    • Selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit of Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by V.U. In the case of equal marks obtained in CET, total marks / percentage of marks of Honours is to be taken into account for ranking. In case of equal marks obtained in Honours, marks obtained in the immediately preceding Examination are to be considered for ranking.
    • As per order of the Govt. of West Bengal 60% of total seats in each subject will be reserved for the students of V.U & autonomous college(s) affiliated to Vidyasagar University and the rest 40% seats are open to all.
    • The 60% of total seats in each subject, reserved for candidates who have passed undergraduate Honours examinations from VU & autonomous college(s) affiliated to Vidyasagar University, will be filled up from the merit list of CET on condition that the candidates obtain Hons marks or equivalent in the major subject.
    • Quota for SC/ ST will be considered as per Govt. order 906 Edn / Estt dated 18.09.1997. Number of seats (SC-22%, ST-6%, OBC-A-10%, OBC-B-7%) will be calculated and considered separately for 60% seats of V.U. students and 40% seats for Open Competition. Fraction of 0.5% or more will be rounded to the next whole number.
    • 5% of each category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B) will be reserved for Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates. Merit list will be prepared on the percentage of PwD. In case of non-availability of PwD candidate, the seat reserved for PwD of the particular category will be converted to that Category only.
    • Prize holders at International/National/State representation in the last two years will be considered for Sports Quota provided that he/she has participated in the Inter College Competition/ Inter College Athletic Meet organized by our university in his/her tenure in UG level. The sports events are Football, Volleyball, Athletic, Yoga, Khoko, Kabadi, Chess, Table Tennis. A committee will be constituted to assess the performance of the applicants in the respective field.
    • Prize holders in the International/National/State meets in the last two years will be considered for Cultural Quota provided that he/she has participated in the Inter College Cultural Competition organized by our university in his/her tenure in UG level. A committee will be constituted to assess the performance of the applicants in the respective field.
    • 1% of total seats of all PG courses are reserved as Sports/ Culture Quota.
    • The seats in the particular subjects will be reduced by the number of candidates selected for Sports/Culture Quota in that subject. The seat will be reduced from the particular category (Gen/Sc/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B) in which he/she belongs.
  • For Open Competition (40% of total seats)
    • 40% Seats in each subject are Open to all (students of V.U & autonomous college(s) affiliated to Vidyasagar University/Other universities), which will be selected from the merit list of CET.
    • The minimum marks required for admission through Open Competition (40% of total seats) is as follows:
      Arts & Commerce and Science:
      • All Subjects except Commerce, Economics, Hindi, Sociology, Electronics and Microbiology:
        45% marks in Hons. (for Gen. Candidates)
        40% marks in Hons. (for SC / ST / PwD / OBC-A / OBC-B Candidates)
      • Commerce, Economics, Hindi, Sociology, Electronics and Microbiology:
        40% marks in Hons.
  • Questions will be MCQ pattern; Full Marks - 200; Total no. of Questions - 50; Time - One hour.
  • One (1) mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Questions will be set in English, except for Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit and Santali.
  • Online provisional admission will be done through the university admission portal.
  • The verification of testimonials & other documents for provisionally admitted students will be initiated after commencement of classes.
  • The verification will be held in the concerned department. The teachers of the concerned departments will be present at the time of verification.
  • The colleges under Vidyasagar University will follow the Rules and Regulations regarding admission to PG courses framed by Vidyasagar University and the Government of West Bengal.
  • Written Admission Test and Verification cum admission in the affiliated colleges will be held after the Written Admission Test & Verification cum admission in our university respectively.
  • The admission will be cancelled if a student remains absent from classes for consecutive ten days from the date of commencement of classes without any intimation to the concerned Head / Secretary, Faculty Councils for PG Studies, and the admission fees paid will not be refunded.
  • If any candidate shifts to another institution without intimation to the university within ten days from the date of commencement of classes, the admission fees paid will not be refunded.
  • If a student applies to the university authority for cancellation of admission within ten days from the date of commencement of classes, ten percent (10%) of the total admission fees will be deducted as processing fee and the rest will be refunded to candidate.

Documents needed during final verification and admission

The following documents have to be brought by the Provisionally Admitted candidates during final verification and admission:
  • Print out of the online filled in application form to be submitted at the time of verification.
  • Self attested photo copies of all the Marksheets of Examinations passed (10th onwards), University Registration Certificate and a Passport Size coloured photograph affixed in the box provided in the Form.
  • Self-attested photo-copy of the Admit Card / Certificate of H.S. or equivalent / Madhyamik as evidence of the date of birth.
  • Self-attested photo-copy of SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/Persons with Disability (PwD) certificate issued by the appropriate authority, for those applying under respective quota.
  • Self-attested photo-copies of the Certificate of Games & Sports/ Cultural Competition (International / National / State in the last two years), for those applying under respective quota.
  • Self-attested photo copy of the BPL Certificate of the parents issued by the appropriate authority, for those willing to avail concession in tuition fees.
  • Last date of submission of the UG final marksheet for provisionally admitted students is 16th August, 2019.
  • Migration Certificate (for other university candidates only) must be submitted within two months from the date of admission.
N.B.:
  • Application form, if not properly filled in and accompanied with attested copies of the documents as stated above, is liable to be cancelled.
  • All the provisionally admitted candidates are required to produce all original Certificates, Marksheets and testimonials for verification during admission. Candidate or his/her authorized person is to be present at the time of verification and admission.
  • If at any stage, it is found that a candidate has concealed, suppressed or distorted any information/fact, in the application form, his/her admission to the university, if granted, shall stand cancelled.
