Calcutta University has established a formal academic schedule for postgraduate programmes, aligning its system with national timelines. The newly approved July-to-June cycle will be implemented from the upcoming academic session.
Previously, postgraduate courses lacked a standardized calendar, resulting in delayed session starts and inconsistent examination schedules across departments. A committee has now outlined key academic milestones, including session start dates, semester durations, and exam timelines.
This structured approach is expected to eliminate disparities that previously arose when departments independently determined their schedules.
Faculty members and administrators have expressed support, noting that a standardized calendar has long been needed to streamline academic processes and improve student experience.
The revised framework aims to ensure timely admissions and prevent disruptions caused by extended enrollment periods in the past.
